Mikey didn't go too bad. Excellent question. As they say words are cheap, and there are a lot of phonies out there that will say anything people want to hear, to be in the "in crowd" or whatever. The truth is in the acts. Ask them what they have done for the troops ? Do they volunteer at V.A. hospitals, donate to veteran's organizations such as VFW, DAV or American Legion. There are many ways to "support" out troops, check out these organizations web sites.

The best way I can answer this is by repeating my reply to a question that asked something like "why do people say that not supporting the war the same as not supporting the troops?" My reply is:
It's not so hard to understand. The military is here to protect the country and her freedoms. Usually, that protection includes war or some sort, even if it's not on the battlefield. If you can't support war, you can't support the troops. War is what they do in some form or the other. You think you can have it both ways, but really you can't. And no, the people against the war don't bring the troops home. They endanger the troops. Protesting and fighting over war brings moral down. What brings the troops home is support for them and the cause so that they can complete their mission....safely....without worry of who's spreading lies, rumors and so on about them. Never forget, there's a military person protecting your right to complain, protest or what ever you do. They deserve total support, not conditional.

That's just lip service. The same people that say they support the troops but not the mission are the first ones to accuse those very same troops of committing atrocities before the facts are known. Hello Congressman Murtha!!!

From my observation while driving on public roads, I've noticed more 'Support Our Troops" ribbons on cars of people who are blue collar opposed to those who drives big name expensive cars with 'God Bless America' ribbons. As a veteran who understand the truest sense of freedom, without troops, there is no America. So who should get the blessing first?

Well you would hope that people are doing more within their own social circle to actually support military folks.
However words are never empty in my book. Simply saying something enough times creates a certain "atmosphere" around topics and then folks start to actually feel it. An is example is say....oh the government instilling fear in our everyday lives. You get told your county is "this" close from being destroyed and for some reason people start to believe it.

It's like those magnetic ribbons-If you really want to show your support for something at least put a sticker on your car. Something that won't come off so easy and reduces the cars worth.A little commitment to the cause.

Whether they are empty or not....its better to have people holding up posterboards that say "we support you" instead of signs that say "you are killers" or things like that. These soldiers are over there fighting whether you and I like it or not...Its best to keep appearances so their heads remain clear and have a better chance of coming back to us alive. Please support your troops even if you are just paying lip service..
