Proper education would influence pts complience to o2 therapy, as well as support system and knowledge of why it is needed actually that would be part of education

I'm not sure if this answers your question - but here goes. I think some people don't like their oxygen therapy (I assume you are administering this through the nose) because the constant flow of oxygen through the nasal prongs is drying to the mucus membranes - this can lead to scabbing and bleeding. Also, many patients don't like to actually carry around an oxygen tank - 1) its inconvenient/difficult to maneuver/hard to travel with and 2)it points them out to society as being different, and that may make them uncomfortable. Lastly, many patient on oxygen are smokers, and they may not want to quit smoking (which they need to do, since the open flame can ignite the oxygen and burn them) so they avoid their oxygen tank.

I'm not sure how to fix those problems - maybe provide humidified oxygen to pt.'s with nose bleeds, or apply Vaseline to the mucosa of the nose to protect it from drying. Make tanks lighter weight, more portable, less obvious, more fashionable. And encourage smoking cessation, send to anti-tobacco support groups, etc.

Hope that's what you meant!
