In my opinion, a Christian is someone who follows Christ. That means a Christian believes the teachings of Christ as they are represented in the Bible. That means the Old and New Testaments of the Bible because Jesus said He did not come to replace, but to fulfill, what was written in the Old Testament.
A Christian is a person who has faith in Jesus Christ, who believes that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and part of the Trinity, or Triune God and therefore is fully God. A Christian also believes that Jesus became fully man, while at the same time remaining fully God, and was born to a virgin. He lived a sinless life and was crucified. He died, and His body was in the grave for three days while His spirit rose to heaven. On the third day following His death His body was risen, reunited with His spirit in glorified form, and He walked the earth and revealed Himself to many people. When He died, He took upon our sins, and when He rose from the grave He was the firstfruits and the promise that we, also, who believe in Him will one day raise in glorified form just as He did.
A Christian understands that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. A Christian understands that this means all are deserving of hell unless forgiven of our sins. The only pathway to forgiveness is by the grace of God, through faith in Jesus Christ. No amount of good works will redeem a person or pay for their sins. The price for sin is death, and that price will either be paid with the person's eternal death in hell (and the lake of fire) or has already been paid for with the death of Jesus for those who accept Him.
A Christian believes that good works result from the fruit of the Holy Spirit residing within us and that each of us are spiritually gifted in different ways. We are to use those spiritual gifts to further God's kingdom, namely to be obedient to the Great Commission. The greatest thing we can do, and that which will withstand the refining fires of the judgment seat of Christ, is to help others to come to faith in Jesus Christ.
When we die as a Christian, we go to heaven (Paradise or Abraham's Bosom) to be with the Lord (Christ), or our souls do. Our bodies sleep on earth until the day of Christ's gathering of His children (the rapture) when the dead in Christ will rise first, and then those who are still alive will be changed and gathered unto Christ. On that day all who are Christians will inherit a new, spiritual and perfect body, our earthly bodies refined. We will ascend to heaven with Jesus and remain there until He returns to earth for the battle of Armageddon, when we will return with Him riding white horses. After the battle of Armageddon, we will be rewarded with the reward He brings with Him based upon the deeds we have done (how we have furthered His kingdom) and will be seated accordingly on thrones of judgment and authority during His 1000 year reign (Revelation 20:4). At the end of that time, we will go with Him to the New Jerusalem where we will reside with Christ and God the Father for eternity.
There is more, but this is long enough.
A Christian believes in, and follows Christ. That is my definition

There are many different christians - a wide variety. Those who take the bible as symbolic (pointing to a higher, spritual truth than the literalness of the words) and those who take the bible non-symbolically (as literal truth). There are christians with different concepts of the afterlife and miracles, again, depending upon literalism or symbolism. There are others who sound almost buddhist in a christian context. Some use the concepts as tools to get an experience of god (not a belief-based but a direct experience) and don't treat the theology as an end in and of itself.

They believe a god created the whole universe in 6 days and populated it with animals. He then created man to rule over the animals. The guy was lonely, so he created a woman. He put them in a garden and didn't give them any knowledge of right and wrong, but put a tree in the middle that would give them that knowledge and told them not to eat of it. Of course, not knowing right from wrong, they ate from it and God got mad for some reason.
Then they had kids, Cain and Abel. They offered God grains and slaughtered animals. God preferred the bloody animals. This would be a continuing theme throughout the Bible. However, he didn't like it when Cain killed Abel. So, he sent Cain out into the world, marking him so that everybody would shun him but not kill him. So, Cain settled down in a nice city, met a wife and lived happily ever after.
Later, things got bad in the world, so God killed everything, except for a few animals that Noah saved.
It goes on, but this entry is getting long...
In the New Testament, God gets tired of people killing animals for him and decides to have a son which he has killed temporarily to satisfy his blood lust. Anybody who acknowledges this "sacrifice", which couldn't be much of anything to a god, gets to go to Heaven when they die to do who knows what.

Hmm. Such a broad spectrum of possible answers...I'm a member of the Church of Christ so I'll give a synopsis.
First, you must believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God. Also, the he died for our sins on the cross at Golgotha aka. Calvary. And that you must be baptised in water for the remission of your sins, and you start a new life as a child of God, bought with Christs blood. That's the essence of being saved/aka a Christian, without this occurring, your are not a Christian. Denominations have different beliefs and it varies somewhat, but essentialy it's the same.
After this occurs, you live your life in service to the Lord and seek to understand the word (Bible) and study it. Christ is our savior and our example of how to live our lives, and every Christian should try to strive to live as "Christlike" as possible. Repent when you sin, ask for forgiveness, and love God with all your heart, mind, and soul. Meet for worship every time the congregation meets, spread the gospel and try to win souls over from sin, and live your life as an example to others, like a light in the darkness.
In the end, you pass on. When you die, you go to one of two places until judgement. If you are with God, you go to Paradise or with Abraham. If your are not of God, you await judgement in Tartarus. Then, on judgement day, we all will face our maker with Jesus either turning us away saying I know you not and off to Gehenna (Hell) you go. The others, that are found to be worthy, will be introduced to God the Father by Jesus and advise God who you are, and tell you "Well done, good and faithful servant." and admitted to Heaven. Those in Hell will suffer forever, those in Heaven will dwell in the light of God forever and ever. Amen.

The Lord Jesus Christ, was born the only son of God. He walked the land preaching God's word to the poor and needy. He admonished the rich. His followers wrote the new testament after His death.
He was brought to trial by Judas, a friend who 'turned him in'.
He was crucified on the cross, and being the son of God, He did not have to die. But God chose allow His only son to be sacrificed so that in His death all sinners could be saved by believing in Him.
From then on Jesus became the bridge between God and man, bringing man to God through His death, and God to man through preaching His word during His lifetime.
That is why when Christians pray to the Lord, they end with "in Jesus' name, Amen". Prayers are only heard by the Lord if you show that you recognize His son and the sacrifice that was made on your imperfect behalf.
It is like saying to God "I know I'm bad, I know I'm not perfect, I know You could easily deny me forgiveness for breaking commandments, however, I know that you also know what it feels like to hurt. I know you know human pain.Your Son died. He spent His life trying to save lost souls, I am a lost soul, for His sake, won't you forgive me?"
In my opinion, "real" Christians aren't uppity, since it wouldn't be Christlike. Which is the whole idea - to try to better yourself and help those around you that everyone else ignores.

Concise answer: A Christian is one who believes that God came to earth in the form of Jesus Christ to offer Himself as atonement for our sin, and puts his faith in that salvation, knowing that it was sealed as the New Covenant by Jesus' resurrection.
A true believer is motivated to follow the Lord as empowered by the Holy Spirit, seeking to be obedient in all things as a reflection of God's love first shown to him.

A real christian believes that he or she is a sinner saved by grace. We all were lost before Jesus came to pay for our sins. We believe in eternal life for believers and the inocent ones that were not accountable or never heard but acted according to his/her own knowledge of righteousness. That infidels, non believers and sinners in general will die a second death in the lake of fire created for satan and his minions. That Jesus is coming back to take to be with him. That we must bear fruit of righteousness in order to live up to our faith. That He saved us by grace through faith, without works so that we can walk in His works. God bless you!!!

that would mean, a person who actually does the things that Jesus commanded. Not a person that uses forgiveness as an excuse to continue practicing sin.
The #1 identifier of a true Christian?
One who listened to the commands:
Go therefore and make disciples.
As Jesus example and identity as a teacher suggests, a true Christain takes serious the command to preach. He is not one who substitutes his personal favorite 'hobby' and dedicates it 'to the LORD', but actually follows the footsteps of that one and diligently pursues the preaching work.
Aything less, is just an excuse.
