I'm suprised by some of the answers in here.. Honey??? Beezwax?? Major yuck, very sticky, clogs the scalp pores, and beezwax is satan in a jar for the hair.. It can be quite nasty and attract all types of lint and dirt.
I've used the products below and found the best luck with melted shea butter or the Organic loc n twist gel..
Check out some of the following products available in beauty supply stores or in Walgreens
Organics loc n twist gel (works great)
Jamacian Mango and Lime products (try the gel not the wax)

I have never heard of extensions for dreds but here's the deal: You have probably already looked into the style, but just so you know getting dreds means having them for a long time, so make sure you are for sur that you want them. Also, be prepared to lose some hair when you get them removed, even if you go to an accredited salon to take them out you will lose a tiny bit of your hair. As far as extensions becoming your hair, I have never heard of that either. I know there are wax extensions that they seem to 'grow' with your hair, when really the legnth of your hair is making the extensions appear longer therefore giving the illusion of it 'growing' with your hair.Good Luck!!!!

As a woman with "locs", I would suggest beeswax when your hair is short. I used that in the beginning------now that I've been locked for 12 years----I use Pantene daily oil moisturizer. I guess it also depends on the grade of your hair. You have to experiment until you find the right product for you. They do have special products for locs, but I've never tried any, so I don't know the names of them. Sorry, I hope I've been a help.

I have locks and yes you can get lock extension and to the person who said they glue them in knows nothing about locks. They do not glue them in under any circumstance. The extensions are combined with your hair and they will give you longer locks. You can keep them in or cut them as your hair grows, you do not see the transition point. GL From a person that has had locks for 4 years!
