Yes, a Buddhist is working towards Nirvana. If she was free of desire she would have become enlightened and would be a bodhisatva. I'm sure when the time comes she will not let ice cream come between her and enlightenment.

Sure, a buddhist is someone TRYING to PRACTISE buddhist teachings, not someone perfect! Then she wouldn't be a buddhist she'd be a BUDDHA!
