My 7 year old daughter just asked this question tonight! She asked if all women have to have babies. Oh course i said no, but I didn't really know why this was. I love being a mother so I guess it's hard to imagine not having children. However i do not think children make you more of a woman. I respect women who make that choice.

I have friends that just arent interested in the responsibility the change of lifestyle and the changes that pregnancy puts your body through. People have many reasons for having or not having children and some women change their minds. It really depends on the person, myself I have what I call an internal baby clock and its not ticking right now its pounding, but I am waiting I have a 5 year old son now, but not ready to have another one right at this time. Other women and couples just dont feel the urge to have children and prefer to live their adult lives enjoying or not enjoying the ones their friends and family have LOL

I'm engaged and childfree. My fiance is the same way. That choice was a very simple and natural choice to make. The physical trauma of pregnancy is not welcome in my body especially for a child I know I would only resent. I think the life of a mother is far too boring and I'm much more interested in my education and career as a future professor and anthropologist. I love to travel and children definitely don't mesh well with that! I'd go mad spending so much time with young children and other mothers. I also believe the world has many problems with over population and too many unwanted children. I find the need to have biological children when there are so many unwanted abused and neglected children a little selfish when I think about it.

Not all woman want to have children. These are some of the reasons why they wouldn't want to:
1. Fear of child-birth (It can be very dangerous and some women are afraid of dying during child birth, or having their child die.)
2. No ability to care for the child ( Not a high enough income, cannot support the child's needs for education, food etc.)
3. Would want to stay a virgin (self explanitory - no sex, no baby)
4. No time (Busy doing work, would have to stay up late at night or hire a sitter)
5. No interest in raising a child ( Maybe she just doesn't like children - as sad as that sounds)
6. Fear that the woman would pass on certain genetic disorders or give the child birth defects (ex. geneticly: depression , hemophilia , sickle - cell disease etc. birth defects can be caused by alcoholism, AIDS patients, and smokers etc. )
note: genetic diseases are called hereditory diseases.
7. Afraid of clinic disorders after the baby is born - (ex. post pardom depression)
So those are some reasons why a woman would not want to have a child. Even when they are married, there are fears that can develop (as much as they wouldn't want them to) that are completely understandable.
Good Luck!!

I do know a few women like that who is married and do not have children. Some of them do not want children because they do not feel that they have the patients to deal with it, they do not want to be tied down by having children, some women put they careers first.. Some women can not have children..
I am married and I could not see myself being married with no children.

I can't speak as a woman (not being one), but I can speak as a parent. Raising a kid is hard work, especially when they're young. You'll go short on sleep, work long hours, get no free time, have no privacy, and clean up messes that you'd routinely cross the street to avoid before you had a kid.
And they're expensive, too. Our monthly daycare bill for just 1 kid was enough to buy a decent car. Being a parent is long, hard, sometimes thankless work. I can understand some people deciding that it's just not for them.

My sister decided before she got married, and her now husband, that they didn't want to have any children. They're busy people and didn't want the responsibility.

Some people know they won't make good parents and choose to spare children of that. More people should consider parenthood from this angle. Kids aren't accessories, they are people.

Because every woman who wants to commit to her lover or what may you call it, doesn't necessarily want to have children. They just want to be with the person they love in holy matrimony, as they say.
