I just bought a new home which has no basement and I am considering having the home gym on the top floor. I have a smith machine, treadmill and weights up to 350 pounds.
Is it structurally safe for the building/house?

I think it is provided you don't concentrate all the weights on one side. Try arranging your home gym in such a way that those with weights are on top of beams and near the posts or studdings. The center portion would be a nice place for warm-ups.

The only way you'll ever have peace of mind that you're not going to someday plummet through the floor is to hire a professional contractor and have them check out the structure of your home. I would think it's probably okay but don't blame me if you end up on the first floor underneath your treadmill someday.

I have a two story house with no basement. I have an electric treadmill, a stationary recumbent exercise bike, and a digital weight machine all on the second floor. I think you're probably ok.

You do have to check how much load your top floor can withstand. Get it check with a certified engineer/building authority. It's a practice in commercial building but you may want to do the same for your house.

It sounds ok but ask the person who built the house if possible. If you still have problems with confidence in the structure call a contractor and ask him to visit you. They will probably not charge you and you can have peace of mind too.

sometimes not, but don;t worry almost every floor is made to withstand at least 3000 lb in a house

If that floor can handle that much weight, then there's nothing to worry about.
