That's a sweet gift...but ONLY if she's up for it, and knows what she's getting into.
You're talking about a 'little independent free will' that will need to be taken care of for the rest of its life.

Only if she/he wants one and is prepared to be a responsible pet owner. That could be a special gift then. Otherwise it would be very bad for the puppy if they are not willing to care for it for the next ~15 years.
PS-Remember to help control the pet population...have your pet spayed or neutered! Goodbye everybody!

Sure why not. It could only make things better. Besides everyting she looks at the puppy she will think of you, even if it is years down the road.
