I am standing is --- you are already standing...
I am standing up is--- the motion of standing up....
Thats my thoughts

In 'I'm standing', you're stating that you are standing while in 'I'm standing up', you're stating that you're standing up from a previous maybe lower position...for example you're sitting on a chair and then you stand, you can say that you're standing up...

Standing can only mean that you are on your two feet but standing up can be interpreted to fighting for your right to what you firmly believe. I hope somewone else could add more to what I said.

"I'm standing" means that's you are already in a standing position. "I'm standing up" means that you are going to stand up from a lower position (eg, sitting or squatting). Standing up also has another meaning like " I'm standing up for myself against bullies like him."
