She is over weight for her height and age. But she is 12 and most of it is probably still baby fat. If you want to help her you may want to join a gym, like the YMCA, or dance classes or if your parents allow you to, go on power walks in a near by park. If you have meals you may want to suggest to her that she eat healthier foods and you do it also so this way she sees she's not doing it all on her own. This will keep her motivated.
I'm also 5 feet and she should be around 115 pounds. It depends on how she is built. But roughly that should be her weight.

Well to be quite honest I believe the root of her problems stem from low self esteem which in turn could result into compulsions to overeat. At 12 years old it can be a traumatic time for a young girl. She should try and stop shuveling food into her mouth like its the last supper. Or perhaps another option is to lug her hefty butt around and exercise. I know that while exercising her thighs could tend to resemble two rhinos humping, but trust me it would be worth it in the long run. The ability to one day look at herself in the mirror and not cower in fear is truly the ultimate goal. Just remember, you can always be thinner, better looking.

Unfortunately, you won't be able to help her, unless she wants to help herself and until she makes the decision she wants to be thin and not fat, and for the rest of her life, it is a regular life style, she must make that decision in order to stop being overweight, you can try all you want, but you are not the food police, it is definitely a very personal decision, which takes a strong commitment.

If she's big-boned, she should weigh about 120. If she's small-boned, about 110. You can help her by dieting with her. Lot of vegetables, fruits, lean meat. Forget the pizza, wings, and limit the potatoes, bread, rice and pasta. At 12 years old, with a diet and exercise plan, it should come off fast. Good luck.

Suggest activity when you are hanging out- walking, roller skating/blading, bicycling etc. Try not to plan things like movies or going out to eat. Maybe make a healthy snack that is fun to prepare- a salad (worlds biggest, best salad)
you don't necessarily have to tell her your helping her lose weight either! Just suggest fun things to do!

yes that is a little overweight. Since she's young you don't want her to feel too selfconscious about her weight. I would try to get her more active in sports- possibly join a team or go on walks with you. Also try to incorporate more fruits and vegetables in her diet and smaller portions.
