All rites of formal worship in Islam are based on Divine revelation, while the modes of worship in other religions are a mixture of Divine revelation, man-made traditions, opinions of clergymen and religious councils. , in Islam acts of worship such as prayer and fasting have been described by God and His Prophet in such detail that it gives human beings a feeling of assurance that the way they are worshipping God is pleasing to Him.
The original, unchanged revelations given to Abraham and other prophets(like Moses and Jesus ) reaching back to Adam all came from the One True God(The Creator). This common origin explains their similarities in many beliefs and values
However, over time the teachings of the various religions, due to a variety of reasons, have become distorted and mixed with made-man ideas.
The last Prophet and Messenger of God, Muhammad , who is a direct descendant of Abraham through his first born son, Ishmael, was sent with the Last Guidance, Revelation and Testament, the Holy Qur'an(koran) to amend and correct the changes and corruption made to the the "Torah" which was sent to Moses and theTrue Gospel of Jesus. To say the truth ,God preserved all the other Holy Books plainly by preserving His Last Book the Holy Qur'an(koran)which contains the right and the truth of all that was changed in those other Books.
This is why this last Revelation which was sent 1423 years ago has remained unchanged, not even a word or a letter has been altered.
There is not even one word of difference between two Arabic Qur'ans, anywhere in the world. There has been no disagreements in history among Muslims as to what should and should not be in the Qur'an. However, in the case of the Bible, even the most ancient manuscripts conflict with one another so that no two are identical. Footnotes in all modern versions of the Bible prove this fact.
These revisions serve as concrete proofs that all the Biblical books are not at all divinely inspired. This is because it is beyond man's ability to correct the work of his Creator, who alone is Almighty and perfect
It was only natural for Almighty God to preserve the scripture revealed to Prophet Muhammad, because he was the last Prophet and Final Messenger of God.
Islam teaches us that we must pray directly to God without an intermediary and no soul can bear the burden of another and that the nature of humanity is good, and we did not inherit sin from Adam. Each soul comes into being free of sin.in Islam there are no priests or clergy -- each worshipper, man or woman, has a direct relationship with their Merciful Creator -- Almighty God. Since God is the Owner and Sustainer of everything, as well as the only one who can provide true and complete forgiveness, it is completely futile to try to approach Him through anyone else.
The oneness and universality of God's message requires that people accept all the messengers of God. Rejecting one of them amounts to rejecting them all. The Jews reject Jesus's mission and Muhammad's mission; the Christians reject Muhammad's mission; whereas the Muslims accept them all, but reject incorrect historical interpretations and human elements in these missions.
As the Qur'an is the final revelation and Muhammad is the final prophet, humanity is obligated to accept it: "If anyone desires a religion other than Islam, never will it be accepted of him; and in the Hereafter he will be in the ranks of those who have lost all spiritual good" (3:86).
The Final Prophet Muhammad said: "Whoever believes there is no god but God, alone without partner, that Muhammad is His messenger, that Jesus is messenger of God, and that Paradise and Hell are true, shall be received by God into Heaven."
you can do that now as you are reading these lines is to pronounce the two confirmations and attestations of faith, here it is
I BEAR WITNESS THAT THERE IS NO GOD WORTHY OF WORSHIP EXCEPT ALLAH ( ARABIC WORD MEANS ONE GOD-THE CREATOR). AND I BEAR WITNESS THAT MUHAMMAD IS HIS SERVANT AND MESSENGER. I BEAR WITNESS THAT JESUS IS HIS SERVANT AND MESSENGER.
The right picture of lslam is conveyed in the Qur'an, which is exemplified by Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him. The reality is that it is not fair to judge a religion by the actions of its followers alone because there are good and bad followers in every religion. The correct thing to do is to judge a religion by its documented revelation from God and the prophet who brought that revelation.
I encourage Christians and other religions to learn about Islam from Muslim sources and The Basis Of The Muslim Belief and not rely on second hand information which in many cases is distorted or contains a deep seated anti Muslim agenda. This is indeed a more scholarly approach

The human power of formal reasoning has an unavoidable limit. We can never be entirely sure of the logical basis of our conclusions; so we begin to recognize that there are unsolvable mysteries. And this feeling of being surrounded with mysteries, one cannot grasp, turns into indescribable awe. Fear of unknown make people turn to religion.
Fear of unknown is at the root of all religions; and all personal religious experiences have their root and center in mystical states of human consciousness. Like drugs, the religions too may produce a psychotropic influence on human mind; and stimulate the mystical faculties of human nature. Even so, religions do bring a sense of inner happiness, though short-lived, in a state of false inner tranquility and balance; but over passionate pursuance may produce mild euphoria, cause hallucination; and even alter perception and thinking pattern.
Almost all religions are designed to bring about a packaged peace of mind. These turnkey packages come in complete with ready for use set of strongly held beliefs, values, and attitudes to live by. But do they really get you conditioned to deep solutions?
All religions aim to give comfort and moral instruction for life on Earth, and to inspire hope for life after death. The religion should rather counsel contemplation and endurance; shape common sense and awaken the believers because hope is but the dream of those that wake.
The religions have few things to hope for and many things to fear. One among them is the fear of hell. Fear of hell alarms the believers successively to the point that they dose themselves heavily by every specific remedy the religions offers. The consequence is that the fears, which had first been imaginary, become real and in the state of living, they become more dead than alive.

Man, in his infinite wisdom has created denominations, or, different groups of the same basic religious beliefs.
Example, Baptist and Pentecostals, both are christian religions, both use the same King James Bible, but their Church doctrine is different. Most Christian denominations are pretty much the same, with just a few minor differences.
Its when you get these weird fringe religions, like David Kore-sch, Jim Jones, that religion pretty much gets a black eye. The most recent black eye is the very radical Muslim sects and their all out war on non believers and infidels, which Christians along with Jews, Buddhists, and all other religions, fall into.
Just watch and see what part of a " religion" is mans ideas, or God's word from a book.

It's man interpretation instead of just following it literally, that creates new version of a religion. This was already happening in the time of the Apostle Paul, when he said he thought he had worked for nothing because they were returning to observing the rituals and holidays of men. What we see now is the extreme of what he was talking about.

Both. God and his prophets give us genuine religion. As for man's inventions, it is all relative to the original idea since one cannot make change until that which is changed is made. Therefore, with the Father of lies, Satan himself, spear heading the onslaught through the use of imperfect vehicles (Reason and Sense), contradiction emerges since the devil seeks not harmony but cacophony.

It's man's belief that turns it into a religion.
Good question.

God gave us the 10 commandments to protects us. Jesus also gave us some laws. The majority of the rules are man made, and that is why the Sadducee's and Pharisees hated Jesus, because they had too many laws. Religion will send a person to hell, but a personnel relationship with Jesus will save you. Just because I am a Baptist doesn't mean I am going to heaven. I have to have Jesus in my heart, and believe on Him.

Man's way to try to reach God is 'religion'. But God's way to reach man is a 'relationship'. We need to develop a relationship with God. God does this when we turn to Him in sincerity, ask for forgiveness and then deliberately choose to follow God. God never adapts to man's ideas of who or what God is... God does not change. Man changes with the wind and emotions.

I believe in GOD, but other men believe in man-made religions that are the cause of religious wars - a way to "thin out the herd"?

Only one God... who has many names, to many cultures... but only the one, with many paths leading to Him.
Faith is absolute belief and trust in God.
Religion is entirely man made, based on original faith, but as always, taken out of context and manipulated by man, to create mass fear and afford control.
Non-denominational lifelong (61yrs) Christian and (initially unwanted) natural, psychic medium, who's had lifelong proof of God's existence through many life saving miracles, and spiritual experiences... the journey with our maker through this world, is a very personal one for every individual, just as your relationship with your parents, is a one off... and not identical to your sibling's relationship with them... yet... they love you just the same... as God loves all of us.
Cut out the middle man and go straight to the top... has always been my way:-)
