Wearing white allows you to see if you have gotten paint on yourself, this prevents you from inadvertently sitting or rubbing against something you do not want to get paint on. Some painters wear tyvex suits (disposable coveralls) and the standard color they come in is white.

I've wondered that for the 26 years I've been a professional painter . White clothes do make a good test palate for colors though.

So you can tell the good painters from the do it yourselfers. If his clothes aren't splashed with paint you know he's a good painter.

That is a good question! I don't know the answer. I never wear white when I paint! I can't wear white even when I am not painting! All of my clothes have paint on them. Especially my jeans. One thing is for sure though...I know which clothes are mine when I am doing the laundry!!! LOL!

Spilled paints on white clothes can be removed with the help of thinner or turpentine.
If they wore coloured clothes, there are chances that the colour of the fabric gets faded.
Also becoz they can easily spot out the spilled paints over ther clothes while washing.

So it always looks like they've done something. The old paint spots make you think that they have been hard at it all day.
