If they both have the same amount of strength, skill, speed, size, etc. Assuming they are both using all punches and no kicks.

There is both physics and technique involved. All of things considered, if the only difference between the fighters were their hand size, the smaller hand would have the advantage. As listed by previous entries the smaller area of the smaller hands will created a more concentrated and focused strike. Think about a bed of nails. All nails are made relatively the same. However, one can lay on a full bed of nails, while a few nails will pierce your flesh if you try to rest your body across them.

Second part, is even though their skill is equal, in a fight people rarely exchange blow for blow punches. It only takes one well place strike from either fighter to knock the other out. Furthermore, the larger hand fighter has many different hand strikes to select from (i.e. ridge hand, palm heel, different knuckle strikes) which all change the area of the hand. They would hand to line up in front of each other, agree on the strike, place of impact, and time it perfectly to hit each other at the same time. That would actually be kind of fun to watch.

I believe phsics would indicate the smaller hand if Strength, speed etc is the same. A big shoed foot coming down on yours hurts as does a stileto shoe, although the stileto is more liable to pierce through your foot. A big foot could crush it given enough power. Then there is the target... a small fist to the throat or a big fist to the same area (one might actually hit the throat, another might actually have to hit other areas due to size)... both hurt.

Force equals mass times acceleration. Not just the mass of the hand, but the timing and execution of the technique allows each person to move at their own speed, and put different amount of their body weight behind it. Also are they pushing their technique or are they creating a shock wave? Pushing can knock someone over and maybe create some damage, but a shockwave properly applied can result in killing damage. Modern karate teaches pushing techniques and the other method is mostly lost to modern practitioners.

the only thing a bigger fist will do is cause a bigger bruising of the impact area, what matters more to the point is knowing where and how to hit for the proper effect.

that's why practicing every day is so important, learn the technique and learn how the right application of the technique will have the desired effect.

proper training and practice are the most important of anything you want to do well in.

with proper technique comes power, with power comes speed and accuracy.

I would have to say the big hands just because you added they have same strength, skill, etc. Because a bigger hand has more of a chance to hit you in a spot that will knock a person out as the person would have to have more exact aim.

All things being equal a smaller striking force has more pressure per square inch then a larger surface.
The smalled hand would be more piercing.
Although if they are both trained to hit only with the knuckles then the damage will most likely be equal.

When people fight, I find that the thing that matters most is the size of the heart and what they are fighting for, by far, outweighs the size of an opponents fists or hands.

if you think of it physics wise, the smaller fist would exert more force per square inch (smaller contact area) on his punch that a bigger fist would. so I would think the opposite.

Ask a girl to step on you with her high heels on vs regular heals and tell me which one hurts more. 'Given' all things being equal, ie same weight, same step etc. that should answer your fist question

As Bruce Lee said a good big man is allways better in a fight than a good littler man.
