I think the western powers created it. I think only they can solve it. Right now we are too dependent on oil to take significant action.
The problem goes back 3 millenia. The solution won't be easy. The Israelis have become hard, pragmatic, rationalists. The Palestinians have had so little for so long they are easily manipulated by outside interests, promises, and emotion.
The issue is one of plenty and poverty. As long as we are guzzling plenty of Arab oil we have a poverty of options open to us. The militant factors know they can more or less do as they want...within limits...and there will be no Western response other than words. The Israelis know the shame of the Holocaust and a strong Jewish population in the US will allow them the same level of engagement.
A combination of tough talk, real response, and money should occur around 2040 or so.

either the Isrealis will finish the job that their god gave them and eliminate the palestinians.
or the palestinians will eliminate the isrealis and take beck their homeland.
they both refuse to live in peace together. so sooner or later one side ot the other will be wiped out.

Palestine should be a state within a nation, Israel. So should Lebanon. So should Jerusalem.
There should be freedom of religion in the constitution, like we have.
Afganistan & Iraq have freedom of religion in their constitution now. Because of the petitions of the people.
