I disagree. We have problems much bigger than some believers getting their feelings hurt because people make fun of them. Look around you. People are living in poverty, children are abused and neglected, and the biggest problem is the "religious" right is trying to take over and control the government.

I'm not a religious person but making fun of someones religion is just plain wrong. I disagree that it is America's biggest problem. You should ignore the nonbelievers they will not be in heaven with you

Disagree - the biggest problems facing America are poverty. Homelessness. Lack of equal rights for all. The cost of pharmacuticals for the elderly. Lack of leadership. Bad foreign policy. Corporations taking over politics. Intolerance. Need I go on?
People making fun of others is non-existant on MY list of problems.

Disagree; if you are truly set in your beliefs then someone teasing, or at the worst - even mocking your religion - shouldn't have any effect on you.
Plus, if you do mean "make fun of" as in just small jests and teasing, it is probably healthier to have this flow and exchange rather than to have people always tiptoeing around each other when it comes to religion. If people didn't tease or disagree, then there would be very little exchange of information or learning about each others religions.

Disagree. americas arrogant attitude to every one and everything else on the planet is the biggest problem facing america today. I just have to add that I was reading the answers you've gotten and one jumped out at me to prove my point. Someone mentioned being in afghanistan and Irac fighting so people have the freedom top believe whatever they want and not have concepts shoved down their throats. Excuse me? Hello? Americans are in these places blatantly shoving Western culture and ideals down people's throats. If everyone looked after themselves and minded their business I'll bet there would be no was today.

i wouldnt say that it is the biggest problem facing America today...there are so many more important things to deal with on a day to day basis then religion...try the war, rape, murder, and many other crimes. making fun of someone isnt even a crime. Yeah sure it can hurt feelings...lots of things can. But the level of crime in this country is far more bigger of a problem.

Disagree. People disagreeing is not a problem. Criticism can be a very valuable thing. And those who can't offer reasonable, valid, constructive criticism are easy to ignore. On the other hand, people having no respect for one another can be a problem. Too many people today are trying to validate their faiths by imposing their beliefs on others through legislation. This is selfish and un-American.

Hi. Can I just add a thought? Your question made me ask myself: and why? One answer must be that the two "sides" are talking at each other, but not with one another. I think the few loud voices that make it seem so bad are drowning out a lot of good folks on both sides of the fence that would talk if the others would listen. I know because I am one of them. I think you are too. That's why I am writing this. I am a pagan lesbian. But I am always willing to have a respectful conversation with people of other faiths. Who are you?

disagree.
believers that are intolerant of other believers are a big problem.
however
the biggest problem faceing america today is the loss of industry.
we have almost no capability to produce any raw materials anymore. most steel, wood, plastics, glass etc. is imported.
and nearly all of our gasoline is imported.
WHEN, and it probally will happen within our life, we end up in another global war, we will not have the edge that we had in the world wars 1 and 2, we will have to rely on forign countries to supply nearly all of the things that we need to make the viehicles and weapons to win the war.

Disagree.
Tell us how nonbelievers are thebiggest problem America is facing.
If anything, believers, especially fundie bibull thumping xians, are the ones causing the problems for the general population.
Again, I haven't seen any non-believers bomb a building, picket hospitals and funerals, make terrorist threats, etc etc.
Those would fall under the 'Believer' category.
