This has been going on since yesterday. When it first started, there was no swelling and we just thought, 'hairball' and gave her petromalt. Today when I came home from work, I noticed the swelling. When I looked in her mouth, I noticed the blister.
We have an appointment tomorrow to see the vet.
She seems like she wants to eat, but she can't because of pain (obvious).
When I gave her a dropper of water at the corner of her mouth (presumably to bypass the blister), she hacked like she has a sore or raw throat, although the water stayed down.
Should I take her to the emergency room tonight, or will waiting for tomorrow afternoon be OK?
Is there something I can give her for pain, like anbesol?
Could she have bitten a spider or bee that stung or bit her back?
Her mouth is tender and I don't want to yank it around if I can help it.
Thanks for reading!

I called the Vet again, he didn't seem urgently worried about seeing her tonight.
He said because it started yesterday, if it *is* an allergic reaction it's probably at its peak. He also said her throat is probably sore from the injury, and that it was good she kept down the water, and to give her more in an hour. If she worsens he wants me to call him back.

Last night, she was able to eat a little gravy from her wet food! And she's almost stopped the hacking.
This morning she looked a little brighter, and the swelling was down a little.
I'll let you know what the Vet says today, and I really appreciate everyone's advice!

The Vet checked her out and said that outwardly she seems the picture of health.
Swelling was down and heart rate, breathing and temp were all fine.
He ruled out injury, but she was still having trouble trying to swallow.
Also, as he was pressing her with the stethescope, she was hacking pretty good.
The only thing was the fact that she's very full of air in her intestines, probably from gulping for air at some point.
Poor thing, probably while I was at work!
The next step was to X-ray her to see if something was stuck down her throat. He then sedated her and put a tube down her throat to check for obstructions, there were none.
He ruled out foreign matter, so the last two things are allergic reaction to something, or asthma, or both.
Personally, I think both, even though the X-rays were negative.
You all were great, and I'm sorry I can't give every one of you 10 points!
Thanks again!
