This is my grandma's recipe so I think it is the best!

Grandma’s Banana Bread
•2 cups cake flour (or 2 cups regular less 4 T)
•1 t. baking powder
•1 t. baking soda
•1-1/3 cups sugar
•½ cup butter
•2 eggs
•½ cup buttermilk or sour milk
•1 t. vanilla
•1 cup mashed bananas
•½ cup nuts (optional) or mini chocolate chips are very good too.

1.Cream butter. Sift in dry ingredients. Add ¼ cup milk and bananas. Beat 2 minutes. Add remainder of ingredients except nuts and beat two more minutes. Stir in nuts or chips, if used.
2.Pour into 2 greased and floured loaf pans or one square cake pan. Bake at 350 for about 40 minutes (Use toothpick test. My oven sometimes takes an hour. If the loaves are getting too done on top, put some tin foil lightly over them for the last 15 minutes or so.)

Cherry Pecan Bread:
INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cup margarine
3/4 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 (10 ounce) jar maraschino cherries, drained and chopped
1 cup chopped pecans

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9 x 5 inch loaf pan.
In a large bowl, cream butter or margarine and sugar together. Add eggs, and continue mixing until light and fluffy. Add baking soda, salt, and vanilla; mix thoroughly. Alternately add buttermilk and flour to the creamed mixture, mixing only enough to hold ingredients together. Fold in cherries and nuts, mixing lightly. Turn batter into prepared pan.
Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, or until bread tests done. Cool completely before slicing.
