I always have onion powder, garlic, basil, paprika and cumin. That's always a good start for a spice cabinet! Usually tons more too, but those are what I start lots of things with.

Salt, black pepper, granulated garlic, fresh garlic, thyme, rosemary, basil and oregano. Without knowing what/how you cook, I cant suggest anything more specific but here are some suggestions.
Mexican-Cilantro, coriander, cumin
Chinese/Indian Fenugreek, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, tumeric, allspice.

aww you mean spices and such. well it depends on what you make the most. and sometimes what ethnicity you are. chinese have certain staples around, so do african americans and french, what have you. i'm a mexican so the staples i ALWAYS have are cilantro, garlic, cominos (with is cumin), chili powder, thyme, rosemary and basil. (the rosemary and thyme are especially great to have around in the winter months, makes for important ingredients in homemade chicken soup. the two herbs are actually medicinal! they help congestion, respiratory and sinus problems).

I love cilantro. The first few times I had it, I didn't like it, but it's a taste that really grows on you. It's excellent in tomato dishes and any Mexican cooking. It adds a great and unique flavor to chicken dishes as well, or even something as simple as cottage cheese.
