So Im looking into purchasing a laptop...Im a college student who would be using this primarly to take notes in class and would need the internet to transfer those notes to my email and then print them off from my home computer...However I dont know much about internet connection on a laptop. Does anyone have this service? If so, how much is it per month and is it unlimited access? I would also have it on two laptops.

If I am not mistaken, college campuses all have wireless internet service. You will have to ask them about the DNS settings to use, and they will likely help you to set that up. I've not heard of colleges charging students for it, but I don't know about that first hand where you are going, so you'll just have to ask them. Wireless internet is included on all new laptops, so if they don't charge you at school, then you don't have to pay for it.

Well first of all, you don't need to have the internet just to print notes. You can either save it to a disk/usb drive and print it at school or take the comp home and print it. Just hook your printer up to your laptop.

But if you do want the internet, it's usually about $30-50/month depending on where you live and what is available. Sometimes you can get good deals for a year or 6 mos. But you would have to have a wireless card for your laptop. Some come with one built in and some you have to buy separately. Either that or you can just hook it up directly. Then you wouldn't have to buy a router too. But it's much more convenient to go wireless because then you can take it anywhere in the house.

Please find out from your university if the campus is Wi-fi enabled. If it is you would not need to spend any money. Just ensure that the laptop you buy has a in-built Wi-fi. IN a case if the campus does not provide such service You would have to buy a Data card - prices vary from each services providers. Also please be adviced that most email accounts do not allow you to send emails over 2mb .. instead you can creat an account in www.esnips.com and have a 1GB worth of server space free of cost. you can just print all your notes using you printer at home or LAN set printers on campus by connecting to your laptop

If the school has wireless Internet network, then it shouldn't cost you anything, as long as you have a notebook that is for wireless Internet.

Now if you live in a apartment or away from the school, then you will not have free Internet. You would need to get the routers and pay to one of the Internet Service Providers in your area.

If it is your own laptop then why do you need to transfer the notes to your email? Connect your printer to the system and print it when you get home or buy a docking station and have the printer connected to it. When you get home dock the system. Why do you need two laptops?

Your question is quite confusing.
