My best friend is getting married next month and she is spending about $3000 for 85 people. It really depends on what you really want to have. Here are some money saving tips:
1. Use artificial silk flowers instead of real flowers.
2. Have a church wedding & reception instead of renting an expensive hall. Also you could rent a nice community center or American Legion or VFW center if one is in your area.
3. Purchase your food at a Sam's or BJ's and have family or close friends to prepare it and set it up buffet style. If you do this, make sure to ask someone to monitor the food & replinish as needed.
4. You can use wiltonprints.com to get cheap stationery to do your own invitations & programs.
5. You can always get really cheap wedding & reception items on ebay.
6. You can use Publix to get a reasonably priced cake unless you know someone who bakes extremely well.
7. Also, you will be surprised at the contests you can win for weddings & giveaways at bridal shows.
The key is to keep YOUR budget in mind and know that to stay on track you can't get caught up in a fairy-tale wedding!
You CAN have a nice, elegant, inexpensive wedding. Let me know if you need any other cost saving tips.
Good Luck!

Dear small wedding. Remember the things you must think about right now is the food and decorations of the hall, the food will be a head count, and then what can you feed them for this amount of dollars. Example what can you get for $10 dollars a head, you also need the rental of plates or choose paper? all depends how much you can afford, if paper is must then go for it. Now what about her bouquet this can be fresh or artificial? and the tux the rings? the flower girl accents?? mother in-laws coursage's and the flower for your males lapel. No need to do favors but if you must a small netting circle you can get at Michaels or even any craft place buy some ribbons to tie in some mints, these are colorful and pretty and the less expensive of ideas to share with your guest. I think I got it all, oh yes the ring pillow? and runner for the church this runs about 25 bucks?? and last not least the yummy cake Or you can do the new thing Cupcakes... Now for all this so far for at least 100 guest were talking at least $1500. You can do all this with a caterer that will work for you, orderves and a desert table can be personal and small votives on tables is a fine decoration you can find something at the Dollar stores. You will be surprised what you can find there. What about the brides head piece?? just wanted to mention this and her accessories! shoes, hair, makeup, undies! dont for get the wedding marriage liscence???? ok now were adding up to $2000 of course you can create lower than this but just thought I would throw in everything I could think of.. and of course thank you notes, and Money for the minister??? got to tip them or pay for someone to marry you, this is never free>>>

Every single wedding is different and incomparable. After 20 years consulting, I have never been able to answer that question, after all -- what is average?
I do have a suggestion, though. You may want to work from the other end.
How much do you have to spend on what you still need?
Decide a figure. Write down on paper what you need -- list the things that are most important to you first.
Allot the largest portion there and actually break it down on paper. Then call vendors you are considering and ask if the service they provide is feasible at that price. If not borrow from the last things on your list -- if some get cut or minimized, its not such a big deal.
You may have to limit your guest list if all else fails. Have a casual celebration party much further down the road to include everyone.
Have fun!

It depends on a wide variety of factors. First, where are you located? That is the most important thing in determining price. Then you have to be more specific on what is small vs medium since everyone has their own idea of what it means. Is there any intricate detailing or fondant, both of which will raise the price. Wedding cakes are sold by the slice so it depends on how many people you intend to feed (standard wedding cake slices are TINY) and if you want anyone to have the option of seconds. Some bakers charge more if you want something that isn't the standard white or chocolate. Also keep in mind that two bakers in the same town, offering the same cake will be different prices.

RE:
What is the average cost for a small wedding?
In a church or nice banquet hall, 100 guests or less, already have a dress for the bride, making own invitations, and family photographer for really cheap.

A nice, average wedding can cost about $2000 - $5000. You have some of the things already taken care of. My wedding had about 150 people and we had to hire photographer, caterer, etc and we spent about $5500 and this was about 5 years ago.

Okay well minus the dress, invitations, and photographer
marrage licence = $60
renting tux = $50
church sometimes you pay sometimes not =$100-$200
=$210
If you have a reception food for 100 people
or better idea you could have everyone bring something?

I would say about $2000-$3000. That was us buying the food and his sister got it all prepared for us. We had a small church and a hall. When I got married that is how much we spent on ours. My boss made invitations and already had dress. Good Luck

Well if there are about 100 guests....+ all expenses, but not include the Diamond rings....You looking at 15k.
My brother got married last years, he had about 230 guests. He spents all about 25k, but that Diamont rings not included.
