its actually pretty easy and works really well!
1. go to the drugstore and buy a pack of basic bobby pins (they're like 99c)
2. you'll need to get your hair wet so either do it after you get out of the shower or wet it with a spray bottle.
3. depending on how curly you want to curls, take bigger or smaller sections of your hair. the best would be about the width of your thumb. then wrap the small section around two of your fingers then pin it at the top of your head.
4. do this until all of your hair is pinned up.
5. hairspray it! this will make sure that the curls will stay in longer
6.you'll need to let it set for a few hours. the easiest way to do this is just to sleep with them in, and trust me, it isn't uncomfortable.
7. in the morning, or whenever you take out the curls, undo each pin. it is easiest if you start at the bottom so you make sure you don't miss taking any of them out.
VOILA! pin-curls.
good luck and sorry that was so long!

That last answer has good instructions. I like to put extra hold gel on my fingers and run it through my hair as I'm twisting. When I take the pins out, I just shake my head a little and hair spray all over. when the hair spray is dry, I finger comb and put pins in or what ever. I don't use a comb or brush until the second day of curl - then it turns into waviness.

Take whatever piece of hair you want curled and twirl it around your finger (tight or loose you decide by how hard you're twirling) lay the curl against your head and put a bobby-pin thru the middle of it angled away from your face or upward and that should hold. You may want to have some help getting the hair on top or behind your head. A little hairspray would work too... and don't forget that dirty hair curls easier than clean hair does!
Happy Twirling!

you take a bit of wet hair that is approx. 1 inch-1.5 inches and wrap it around three or four fingers, depending on how large you want the curls to be, and pin them making an X with the pins, if you need more bobby pins, thats fine, no evil pincurl fairy is going to come beat you up. make sure to pin them so the ends of your hair are being pinned to the head! make sure there not sticking out!
