I am getting veneers, so I payed my doctor $4,000.00 to put on 8 veneers on my top teeth. The first time I went they were to long he had to send them back to get shorten. Then I just went back today and they were still alittle long but he said he could shorten them, so he put them on but as he was working on them one came off, then another and another, so now he says he has to send them back that they must of got contaminated. Does anyone know if this seems right? and to top it off they seem to be a little bulcky looking I thought they were going to be very thin. they are supposed to be the porclein veneeres. If anyone could give me information I would appreciate it. thank you

If they came off while he had just cemented them, then perhaps they were contaminated with saliva. But they can usually be recleaned easily and not have to be returned to the lab. Another possibility is whether his adhesive was out-of-date.
I don't usually do veneers because a thickened tooth is fairly common, so you have to pick the right cases for the best results. To end up with the SAME thickness as before you started often requires the removal of a significant amount of tooth.
I think you have to discuss your concerns with your dentist at the next appointment, BEFORE they are cemented on.

I do not know what part of the country you are in but the price sounds right for the work you are having done. Also, it sounds like your dentist needs to find another lab. Veneers should not be "bulky." Keep in mind that they are going to be thicker than your natural enamel, but they should still look natural. If you are uncomfortable with the job you are getting, talk to your dentist about it. Let him/her know what your concerns are. Once you have accepted the veneers, it will be more difficult to get your concerns addressed. The issue with the lab while not normal is not something to worry too much about. The dentist should be able to switch labs if this one can't get the job done. Best wishes.

Is this a reputable dentist? Did you get referrals before going to him/her? If they are falling off just by the dentist touching them, it sounds like they were shoddy made. I would tell him/her that you want a new set made by the lab and would not accept them at the price you paid with the problems they have! Also, check out his references before you pay out the money.

Sounds like he doesn't use a very good dental lab! Veneers should not be bulky either. Tell him of your concerns before you get stuck with these!

I would check with another dentist to have a 2nd opinion... let them know of your concerns... maybe something is not right at the first dentist that you are going to..

Don't settle with ANYTHING that you have questions or concerns about before he makes them permanent!

...and I agree with the first guy.
