Recently saved the life of a stray cat that I can't keep in all the time... Will my original cat want outside (he sees the cat go in and out and they sometimes 'kiss' noses through the window)...

Why can't you keep the cat in all the time? Because he wants out? That's not a good enough reason. When he goes to the door just say, "No, you are an indoor kitty now" Saying it will reinforce your determination to keep him in. Say it and walk away and do something else. He may give you a hard time for a while and he will eventually accept it.

Get the cat used to the idea of staying indoors. Indoor cats don't get hit cars or poisoned by irate neighbors.

your cat must have been an inside cat and that s why he doesnt want to go outside. maybe if you sat with him outside for a few minutes for a few days he will start to like it.

your new cat is secure inside, when you regular cat goes outside, and the new one watches him go out,[ evenually the new cat will get the nerve to go out also.] try leaving the door ajar so the new one will get brave and go out on his own.....
