The U.S. introduces a new, streamlined immigration process that makes it easy for any law-abiding person to come to this country. Basically, immigrants would be held temporarily at border camps to check for health, criminal, and security risks. As long as they had proper ID and cleared background checks, they would be allowed to enter the country and put on a citizenship waiting list. The whole process would take 3-6 months.
The other part of the plan is that these immigrants would not be eligible for any public benefits beyond emergency healthcare, police services, and basic education. Anyone trying to enter outside of the easy, legal channels would be punished severly upon conviction. Immigrants would also have to enroll in English education classes.
It seems this plan would satisfy both sides. Immigrants could easily come here for a better life, without being a drain on other Americans or security risks. They would be encouraged to adapt to our language and culture. Agree?

Assume this plan would be about or just slightly more costly than our current border control efforts.

Illegals already here....I forgot to mention that. They would be required to register and follow the same restrictions as new immigrants until they became citizens.
Also, any illegal immigrant or new immigrant convicted of any crime beyond minor traffic violations would be immediately deported.
Any immigrant who served three or more years in the military, or at least one year in a combat zone, would be automatically granted citizenship unless prohibited by a criminal record.

JBean B- The problem with the current legal channels is that they can take years to work. Families can starve in the time they take.
One Big Daddy- They wait in the U.S. so we'll have complete control over the process. They would be confined in camps in the border areas while awaiting approval.

This isn't any kind of official plan, just a thought experiment I came up with.

What about those allready here Illegally? And the only other thing would be there would have to be a Limit. The US can only take in so many immigrants per year. Other than that I would probably go for something like that.

I don't like the first part but the rest sounds alright.
What about the ones already here ,what happens to them? Are they deported ? It has flaws because it doesn't address who will benefit from this ,the good person that wants to come here legally or the illegal criminal that's already here . They need to be deported and then made to apply the legal way. No amnesty

OK Do you have a link so we could see the
entire proposal or is this your own creation. Its well thought out but i don't see why they cant wait in their own country.

I am not interested in any plan that lets "any law-abiding person" into this country. The operative word you use is "any". Immigration to the US should be controlled and designed to benefit the US economy and workforce. No immigration plan should be forwarded until the borders are secure and illeagals are removed.

There is already a legal process that one must go through to come to the United States, and it would work if the illegals respected it, but they don't, so our borders need to be closed to everyone except those that have enough respect to go through the legal channels, and all that are over here illegally should be shipped back with their anchor babies, and all the family members.

That would be good..
It's because there is no such thing to many southern countries that they enter the US "illegally"..
I don't think we should discriminate them and not let them benefit from many services... I don't think it's fair if they have to pay for their child to go to the 1st grade..
Other than that, that sounded right...
Not having extremely tough immigration laws would reduce illegal immigration.

No, I don't think it would work.
Just because the fact that many of the immigrants would already be clean, with no criminal past. And because that would be the case, many people could get in without any problems, which would lead to the problems we are experiencing now, but more so,

NO. why should we give in or compromise with them? they break our laws, make demands. If they can not respect our country then let them stay in Mexico. Illegal immigrants should be deported and never be able to gain citizenship

The war has begun...it is too late for a B.S. compromise. I watched video from Maywood CA and have seen the same old "you stole our country" crap. Either we deport now or Americans will continue to kill wets. This is a war! Broom handle to stuff Mexican rag down the throat should suffice. Americans will NEVER compromise with invading, country raping demanding third world dogs.
