I have no spouse, but am the oldest child of a veteran. If I were to die before I marry, am I entitled to a complimentary veterans burial? I'm 38 as of now.

Didnt mean to offend, I know spouses of veterans are entitled..so it's not JUST veterans. I didn't know if children were included or not. Thanks for the answers.

No, you are not entitled to a complimentary burial, and neither are spouses of veterans, actually. Spouses receive a very small burial allowance (usually only $75-100). Not even actual veterans receive a completely free funeral, and if they do, it is rare. All vets are entitled to is a small burial allowance, which also isn't much. Only if you die from war-related illnesses do you get a larger amount, but never a free funeral. Hope this helps! Take care!

I don't know where you got the idea that spouses of veterans get a free funeral.. because they do NOT. Nor do children.
Veteran's benefits are for VETERAN's no one else.

No, veterans benefits are for veteran. If you want though, you can now enlist in the army. Then you can get your own benefits.
Go for it.

complimentary veterans burial.
There is nothing complimentary about what veterans receive. They have paid for it with their dedication to duty, their country, and their sweat and blood.
No wonder you're not married. Who in the hell would want a free loader.

A Veterans funeral is for a VETERAN, not their children.
You want a military funeral then Join the military and serve your country, otherwise you need to stop trying to pretend to be something you are not.
