I used to think not, but at Yahoo Questions & Answers I've seen some doozies.

Some of the ones I hate most are when kids want someone else to do all their homework for them. They are too lazy or too stupid to use a search engine.

Then there are the racist statements masquerading as questions. The misogamist slurs masquerading as questions. The statements with a question mark on them that seem to be screaming, "I'm an obnoxious human being, and I laugh to imagine that I'm pissing someone off."

I used to say , "No there is not stupid question except the one you don;t ask.", after being here on yahoo Answers for a while I have changed my mind. There are lots of stupid questions. However, if this actually a public forum then the public decides. I guess since we use Yahoo's servers maybe it's not so public a forum and maybe they do get to decide.

1) Yes there are stupid questions.
2) The person/community who is being asked the question
3) Other than Yahoo hosting this service, what does this have to do with Yahoo?

I am a teacher. In my opinion, the only stupid question is one where if the person would have put just a little bit of thought into it, he or she would have come up with the answer independently.

It's stupid if you know the answer but are trying to embarass someone by asking it or if you've been studying wood for 10 years then ask what wood is and stuff like that

The only stupid thing about a question is not asking it.

If yahoo deletes a question, it's because someone reported it, because either they were offended or the question had content that went agaisnt the yahoo rules.

Oh yes, there are lots of stupid questions.

Here's a REALLY stupid one that pops up all the time:

"Since humans evolved from monkeys, why are there still monkeys?"

THAT is the mark of a moron.
