Fair? Maybe not. But legal? Probably. Once you hand it in, she can do with it as she pleases. However, as a former teacher myself, I can say that I never would have done such a thing.
Speak to the teacher about it, and tell her how upset you are. If that doesn't work, then consult with your principal or headmaster.

If a teacher throws someone's (a student's) paper away, it sure doesn't do anything for the kid's self esteem. But I've had , so they say "professional" teachers rip up and throw my kid's papers away when they should have told him to PUT IT AWAY. I would've thought about ripping up something of that teacher's!!!!!! And it wouldn't be his papers! Bet you'd never get away with that in some of these "wonderful" schools where the adults can do no wrong. Kids are kids, adults should know better.

They shouldn't be allowed to do that. She should have given it back to you to fix, or at the very least given you a grade. It's very unfair for you to work so hard on a paper and then the teacher didn't even grade it. She can't fairly give you a zero on the paper when you actually completed the assignment. Try talking to her and see why she didn't like it. Tell her you want a grade on it or you want to fix it. If she won't listen to you then you have the right to go to the principal, or your parents can. It would be very wrong for you to end up getting a messed up grade in the class because she didn't grade your paper.

it really is glaring that this instructor is having a complicated time and your classification isn't making issues any a lot less complicated for her. you've written an complete catalogue of her so-stated as unfair remedy yet you haven't quite common that the classification isn't behaving nicely. She is totally entitled to seat scholars as she needs. She is in cost of lecture room administration. you're making your self sound whiter than white yet I by some potential doubt this. i'm confident that the instructor would tell a diverse tale. merely get on along with your lesson, quit misbehaving and quit attempting to make out this instructor is doing something incorrect.

What kind of a teacher would do that? If she felt your work was poor, she should have met with you to discuss where improvement could be made. If she felt you had "stolen" the work, for instance copied it from the internet, she should have returned it with an "F". But never should a teacher throw out a student's work.

I highly doubt it's illegal. But unless you cheated or plagiarized on the assignment, then what she did was absolutely wrong and you need to get the principal involved. Even if she "didn't like it" it's still her job to read and grade it. If you wrote the paper then obviously you don't deserve a 0...even if it wasn't the best paper you should still get a grade for it.

It's not illegal to throw a student work into the garbage, but she should have given you a grade. If your grammar in the paper was anything like your grammar in this question, you probably earned a failing grade.

did she REALLY do that? why would a teacher do that.. if she really did throw away your paper without grading it and graded everyone elses' then you can report this to your principal. if you feel he/she has not solved the problem you can file a complaint to the district.

Was she so upset by bad spelling and punctuation that she couldn't control herself?
If that's really what happened, you have a right to be upset and complain about it. Did you get a grade at all?
