If you go to a place like Copelands they have great discounts. I bought my husbands there and they were like $600 instead of $1300 the only difference is that they were last years model. Callaways are the most popular and every guys dream clubs. I personally have Nickets and I love them. Let me know if you need anymore info.

I would not buy clubs without his input. Golf shops have demo sets he can try. It really, really is a matter of personal preference. Also, if he's very tall, he may need longer clubs. Don't purchase them without him.

YDoncha also made a great suggestion of getting him lessons if he's new to the sport. I gave my husband a certificate for three lessons from a local pro a few years ago when he was starting out.

Well, truth is, if he is new to the sport and you really want to get him something nice - get him lessons. New clubs wont make him hit it further or better, but lessons will.

If you insist on a new set, Ping, Taylor Made and Nike are all great brands. But expensive. Sets start around $900 and go up from there...Ping will custom fit the clubs for free.....

I started palying a year ago. Had a crappy old set. Bought a set of the TM RACs....I still cant hit it worth a crap! Took lessons, now Im doing it right!

a gift certificate would be best. Any good golf shop should be able to set him up with a good used set that would suit his swing. and lessons would be a great gift, or a membership to a course or driving range.

If he is just starting you may want to try a cheaper set, here in the UK I can pick up a full set of Donnay clubs for under £100 at Sports Soccer shop !

Yeah, lessons might be a better investment. Callaway makes great clubs though, they have the best technology in the game of golf.

depends on how much you want to spend. titleist are really nice and so are callaway, but the set might cost you between 1 to 3 thousand.if he;s just begining i recomend buying a used set until he figures out his game. then spend the money
