Must have been a throwback principal. I can remember BEING in public school when it was decided that saying the lords prayer wasn't fair to the other religions. This might help...

Ah in Ontario you were likely educated at a Catholic public school without even realising it. I understand that at least half of the schools are under the Catholic umbrella. I started school in Ottawa at the age of 3 at Queen of the Angels and I remember clearly having to say the prayers. That was 1969 - 1972 when I moved to NS where they did not have prayer. Guess I hardly missed it.

O'Canada is ok because it's our country. Whether you are a citizen or not, you still live here.
Hmm...as for prayer. It's been "forbidden" since I was in Junior Kindergarten back in '89 in my district. Perhaps even longer.
Times have changed and Canada's immigrant population has exploded. This is many other sociological factors have had an impact in this area.
Look now, kids in my district aren't allowed to dress up for freaking Halloween anymore!

Because Canada is a better country than America. Or did you think that Canada is a state? I'd be more concerned with a public school hiring a student teacher that doesn't know basic geography!

Thanks God we in Canada don't get into the pointless fights evangelical gringos are so fond of. Church and state separation was decided even before the signing of our Charter in the 60's but we have to trace the whole thing back to that moment under Trudeau. And we better keep that divide lest the various forms of fundamentalisms get hold of our public affairs. God forbid!

because the state wants to eradicate religion. Cause pure religion according to the bible would mean evil rulers could not hurt the orphans of their country. And thats a threat to their sons regime especially if comman people were given the right to pick their KINGS and QUEENS. Also Jesus wasn't a Canadian why would the monarchy want you praying to a foreign LORD. Brittian wants you to obey them not your own chosen leaders.
