You can't train a dog to stop eating kitty poo unless you are a very, very good trainer or you make the poo inaccessible. It is the one substance on earth that dogs cannot and will not resist. They can learn to be sneaky about it but you can bet your last dollar that dog will come up to you and lick your face 2 seconds before you see the litter crumbs on his chin. You could put a gate or other barrier between the room the litter box is in and the rest of the house. Cats can usually get over/under/through those and it will keep the dog out. You can also try enclosing the litter box in something like a large trash can with lid that has a small hole in it or a kitchen-type cabinet with the drawer removed for the cat to go through. My dogs always loved anything with red pepper or Tabasco sauce.

You will NEVER stop him by yelling, hitting or otherwise punishing him. Almost all dogs think of cat poo as a delicacy. The only cure is PREVENTION. You have to make it impossible for him to get to the litter box. Put up a baby gate or a board with a cat-sized hole cut in it, so that the cat can get in, but the dog can't.

I worked for a vet who recommended using the seasoning "accent" or monosodium glutamate and sprinkling the cat food with it. It won't change the taste of the food, but somewhere between eating it and expelling it, a process happens that makes the fecal matter bitter (glad I'm not the scientist who discovered this). After a week or so of this, the dog should learn a bitter lesson. If the dog picks up this yucky habit again, just repeat the process. Good luck.

A firm NO every time you catch him is the only way! I usually recommend red pepper to stop dogs from eating things that they shouldn't but then... you would have kitty poo everywhere because the cat wouldn't use the box.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Good luck!

Dogs are scavengers. That's why we domesticated them - to clean up our rubbish when we were still living in caves. Like everyone says, just make sure the dog can't get to the cat stuff. Dogs will eat anything they feel like, and cat poo must be great.

Use a baby gate on the door to the room were the box is.
