The worse advice is to wait it out. Take action. Your body can get used to the things you eat. Change up the types of foods and the amount of calories everyday. One day eat 200 calories more than the day before and the next eat 200 less. Also change your exercise. A plateau is your body adjusting to your new lifestyle. Shake it up constantly and you should never experience a plateau. Waiting it out does work, but usually it's a long wait. Take my advice and instead of waiting two weeks for your plateau to go away, you will be back on track by tomorrow. Good luck and hang in there!

Hey. I'm also 14 and I weighted 130 pounds. I've started dieting 2 weeks ago. The only thing I do is avoid sugar, bread (even whole wheat ones cuz they turn into sugar in your system), and any processed food in a pack. I'm not really a fan of exercising, but I really think I should be active. I've lost 10 pounds since 2 weeks ago without exercise, and I believe I could've lost more if I did. Just do 60 sit ups then walk/jog around the neighborhood for an hour. I have a bad habit of eating when I'm bored. Since I'm in a diet, I eat fruits and a salad instead of chips. I put small chunks of meat in my salads. Mostly crab meat. My diet, btw, is called a fruit diet. It's helpful in detoxifying my system. See, when you eat a lot, you can't give your body enough time to break down the food. So it just piles up and turn into fat. But fruits help push the food down your digestive system. What I like best about it is you can eat any amount of fruits! Another thing, never starve yourself. When you starve yourself, your body thinks your dying and reacts by storing your fat. So really, you're going to gain more from starving. Ironic.

2o pounds in three months is a lot. it might be time to take a break from active dieting, and learn to live at the weight you are now at. Learn to maintain it by contiuing with exercise and healthy eating. It is important that the changes you have made fit permanetnly into your life, otherwise you are likely to regain what you lost.

well.. take the stairs not the elevator. step march in place at bus stops.. train station etc. change up on the exercise. shift.. to dancing to music.. right after work... i started putting on oldies but goodies..and dancing by myself according to songs.. i was sweating and enjoying it. i had the cd made.. from all my fast song favorities.. i was losing like crazy. then i started taking stairs instead of elevator..and walking to as many places i could without car.... i never ate after six thirty. i ate several meals a day... that kept ,metabolism going. stay away from those pills. drink lots of water.. and other liquids do not count. i hit a plateau... and i was told to take a table spoon of white vinegar in a glass of water. i did.. and i started losing again. this is not to be done on a regular basis. i also made sure i was regular.. if you know what i mean without instigating it myself. again no pills. just plenty of fluids etc. good luck. you have done great so far.

Recently we joined the YMCA for the biggest losers contest...we've been doing weights 3 times a week and cut back on our carb intake. Our goal is to walk 1.5 miles everyday...it's easy when you think about it. On an average we're losing 5-6 pounds per week. Good luck..don't give up!

20lbs in 3 months? Thats pretty impressive.
Avoid diet pills. All they do is absorb body moisture, and can cause serious dehydration.
Its just simply a matter of eating less calories than your body requires. Find out what your estimated calorie requirement is for your weight, and try to eat less than that.
Sometimes that can be difficult, so you can also get anestimate of what your excercises burn per hour, and make up for any extra calories consumed by excercising them off.
In the end, its all a matter of burning more calories than you eat.

Wait it out. You hit a plateau- it will pass. Keep going the way you are, and then one day you will wake up and be down 2 or 3 pounds. It happens to all dieters.
