I know this sounds awful, but trade your nice, shiny car in on a total beater with an ugly paint job. Cats prefer to tap dance with muddy paws on a beautiful midnight-blue Mercedes rather than a peeling Ford truck in assorted shades of primer and mud. I haven't seen anything yet that will stop a cat from doing the Kitty Mud Tango on a car...

If they are strays, get rid of them. We had the same problem. They would leave scratches on the car where they had jumped up & down off the car. We used a live trap with tuna or old lunchmeat on a paper plate inside for the "bait". We would carry them to a dairy out of town where other cats were and release them.
If it is a pet, the big water gun already mentioned should work.

A cat's natural instinct is to be up high where it can survey the scene and keep an eye on everything, so they do like to walk on cars and sit on the windshield and roof. I wouldn't bother trying to keep it off your car. My thought is that seeing little cat prints on my windshield while driving makes me smile because there aren't many things that are cuter than cat paws, and I love my cats so much that seeing the prints reminds me of them. Good luck!

I don't think you will ever be able to stop them completely, as you need to catch them in the act. I suggest covering the car every time. I know it's a pain, but clearly cat prints are a pain to you as well.

i had cats when i wasnt supposed to, i had to keep them off my window sill. orange peels, cats dont like them, but you would need a lot, or place sheets of paper around the area they jump up on the car. put 2 sided tape over the paper, they will not like it, if you do it enough they will avoid it, its a process. You could also sit in your car for a few hours and honk everytime you see them on it. all are safe for cats.

Easy! Buy a large Great Dane, and put it on the car. That should keep the cats off. =)
Actually, all kidding aside, try spraying your car with horseradish diluted heavily with water. I had a friend who used to spray his electric cords to keep his cats from playing with them.

don't really have a problem with this, but I solved my cats going on the counter and kitchen table by every time they do it, turn on the shower and put em in there and let em jump out, however I don't know if they do it when I'm not around
