Well, so far all the pagans who've answered this have given only very vague answers. "Well, if it's good for you, then do it". Personally I think that's kind of a lame answer. If getting hit by a truck feels good to me, then should I do it? So then there is no absolute truth? There has to be. If I jump off a building, and I believe that I won't die, won't I still get squooshed?
I was sort of a self-styled pagan for a while before I decided to follow Jesus. I was depressed and miserable. I did it because I wanted to be able to cast spells and hurt people who hurt me. Now not all pagans do that, but that's why I did it. That, and I hated authority and had been hurt at church by so-called Christians. Well, once I realized that there really is a devil and he really does hate us and wants to destroy us, and that there really is a Jesus and He really does love me, I ditched all the pagan stuff and surrendered to the Lord. It was like a load of bricks had been lifted off my shoulders.
Also, it sounds to me like all the people who have answered are very misinformed and/or ignorant about Christianity and Jesus in general. It sounds like people judge the Lord by the people who follow Him. This makes no sense to me. This is like, if you lived in a neighborhood full of chatty, gossipy neighbors who didn't like you but said they knew you, and they acted ignorantly, and everybody judged you by those people's actions. That wouldn't exactly be fair, would it? Also, people seem to see Christianity as a religion and not a relationship. The fact that Christianity is a relationship is what sets it apart from the other world's religions. In addition, Jesus' grave does NOT contain any bones. If you were to dig up any other guy people worship, their bones are still in their grave, or at least evidence of their bones having been there. Scientific studies have also verified that there are no signs of any decay ever taking place in Jesus' grave. I could go on but I'm really busy. :)
For those who feel like you were hurt by people at church (referring to my question I posed).....so some ignorant Christians told you that you would go to hell for whatever reason. Did any of them bother to tell you about how wonderful their relationship with Jesus was, or the fact that He changed their lives, or the fact that He created you and loves you dearly and thinks you're precious, no matter what you've done or how you believe?
I wonder if some of you have even ever met a real Christian......we do exist......

Tonya

I am a pagan and even though I certainly think it is better than all of the alternatives, including Christianity, I do not think overall it is a matter of what is better for everyone but what is better than you. Religion is about faith and belief and everyone should be on the path that feels right to them. For me paganism feels right and all of the other possible choices don't matter because I know they are not right for me. You have to follow what you believe.
It is not as most pagans are walking around and saying my religion is better than yours, in fact, very few do that without provocation. Most of the time when you see that it is because someone else just let them know (in their very humble opinion) how wrong they are and how they are going to hell unless they convert.
If someone wants to know about my chosen path I would be open to sharing, however I do not feel a need to convert anyone or convince others how right I am and how wrong they are. I think everyone should know at least a little about all religions and than make a decision, not say I believe this because I was taught to or because everyone else does or my spouse does or whatever. People need to learn to be tolerant of others and their choices.

I converted to Paganism because I was sick and tiered of lying to myself to be perfectly honest. I was Christian, but in my heart I was more inclined to believe other things (i.e. rebirth into another life time, etc., ect.). For the most part I guess it is because we will no longer be hunted down and thrown in prison or worse for saying what we actually believe.
Unfortunatly Tonya B is (or rather was) the rareity of Pagans; not all Pagans are Pagan because it grants us power. I personally find no power (when I was Christian or now) in harming others. This is because I am disabled and know how cruel other people can be towards others. No matter how cruel or mean some one is towards me I will never lay a curse on them mainly becaus of the bad Karma involved with doing that, and more importantly it is immoral.

Hisorically the pagans did get alongside toKings could have advisers from the two religions. And the substitute from pagan to christian,in lots of techniques has been a sluggish one. With a blending of ideals and traditions going on. the main issues occuring for the time of the Roman empire whilst pagans have been burning and killing Christians and the inquisition whilst the Catholic church tortured anybody who disagreed with them.(This included different Christians. yet maximum of this grew to become into politics no longer faith.) The Atheist ought to slowly flow into submit cutting-part thinking or nietzche philosophy and do as he will as neither relies upon on spectacular values.

I don't know what people think that paganism is better than Christianity for everyone. I feel the same as most of the others who have answered your question. I follow a neo-pagan religion because it is right for me. I encourage others to follow the path that is right for them as long as it's legal and it doesn't harm anyone. I don't judge any religion as better than any other religion---especially religions that I have never practiced. Since I have never practiced Christianity, I don't have the practical knowledge needed to even compare it to any other religion. I follow my path because it helps me to deepen my relationships with my deities and it provides me a deep sense of inner peace. If another religion gives those things to someone else, then I hope they are true to themselves and follow the path that is right for them.

well i think that being a pagan is better than being a christian FOR ME.
for you being a christian may be much better.
i studied many religions before i decided to travel the Pagan path.
i went through Christian, Mormon, Catholic, Buddahist, Wiccan, Satanism, Vodun, Demonology, and after many books, and trips to differant churches and coven's/groves. i settled on Celtic Paganism.
i have never looked back and never will. i love my religion and i consider my gods to be my best friends. It fills a void in my life
and has helped me to be a much better man than i ever was before.
i would hope that all religions do this for all of the people that follow them.

I'm not sure where you're looking that you're seeing more Pagans than Christians (unless you're using the broader "All non-Christians are Pagans" definition)???
To me, being a pagan IS better than being a Christian. Having been a Christian, I know that my path now is far more fulfilling for me than Christianity was.
To someone else, being a pagan probably isn't better than being a Christian. That's their choice and their own path to walk. I'm not about to tell them that they "ought to be pagan", any more than I would want someone telling me that I "ought to be Christian".

Think of it as a chair. You see a chair and believe it will hold you if you sit down. You don't know for sure if you will until you actually do the sitting. The chair is any one faith or practice. Christians even though they believe, they won't know for sure until they are gone. Scary! Pagans place their faith or belief in an earthier practice. Here you can get more immediate confirmation of what will hold you. They believe they have proof and Christians only have hope.

It isn't about "them" and "us".
I am a Pagan. I don't believe it is better for anyone to be one or the other (or anything else). I just believe that it is best for me to be Pagan, because it is the only religious path that feels correct and true to me.
If Christianity is correct for you, it is far better for you to be a Christian than to attempt to follow a religious path that you don't believe in and that feels wrong for you.
