I want to purchse this camera but I would like to know what comes in the kit and how much the kit is. Thanks for the replies in advance. I know the XTi just came out but I'm interested in the XT.

The Rebel XT body comes with all the necessary cables, a battery, software, neck strap, and the manual (it does at reputable stores, anyway). The standard kit simply adds a Canon 18-55mm zoom lens. So you'd only need to buy a memory card separately to get started.
Right now, Beach Camera has a great deal on the standard kit: just $709 http://www.beachcamera.com/shop/product.aspx?sku=CNDRXT1855B
B&H offers the standard kit for $750 and at Ritz Camera it still costs a whopping $800.
If you find a place that beats $709, be very carefull. Beach is 100% reliable - some places aren't!

If you want, you can also buy the XT with a variety of other lenses and accessories as a kit. A popular choice is the body + Canon 17-85mm zoom. (The 17-85mm gives you a bit more zoom-range and it's a better quality lens.) Other kits have the XT body with two Sigma lenses. The choice of alternative kits will vary from store to store, so it's hard to compare prices.

I have the Canon Digital Rebel, but just after I bought it the Rebel XT came out. Kit came with Camera, EF-S 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 lens, wide neck strap, battery charger, power cord, battery pack BP-511, interface cable, video cable, and software. Rebel XT Kit should contain the same. Price should be around $900 (it sells for $789 in the military exchange. I live in Japan). Try the link below.
