I am getting married this saturday in berks county pa. We are having the whole thing in our backyard. The weather should be around 80 degrees and sunny. I am so excited. I think everyone is going to be much more relaxed in the backyard and have a great time. We rented a tent, tables and chairs. We are decorating with white lights around the tent. All the tables will have centerpieces and each one will have a camera for all our guest to take pictures. We hired someone to do a pig roast for us. We are also having baked ziti and meatballs. All different party trays and of course the wedding cake. I am putting a little glass votive candle at all the seats with our names and wedding date on it for all the guests. Our whole wedding is costing about 3000.00 for about 70 people including dress rings and his outfit. Hope this helps you. If you dont want to do outside you might try a local fire house or vfw.

I'm not sure where Allentown PA is, but if it's close to the NJ border, near Trenton, my friends are having their wedding at the Prallsville Mill in Stockton, NJ. They are paying very little to rent the space and are bringing in an outside caterer. It's really pretty and decently priced. You can look them up online.

If you have a moderately sized church, don't be afraid to have it in the fellowship hall. I had my reception in a restaurant/pub, and it cost a fortune! In the end, the owner/manager was a jerk to us and didn't come through with what she promised. You can do your own food ahead of time and cater it yourself in a church or have the business of your choice cater it. If you choose a dining establishment, they charge ridiculous fees--like $50 for one plate of cheese rings. They even charged us a few dollars for every bottle of wine they poured, and we bought the wine ourselves! It was almost like having to pay for it twice, but still cheaper than serving the pub's wine.
In the end, I didn't remember most of my reception. People tell me it was beautiful, but I was too ticked off at the owner to enjoy that. Your guests will enjoy themselves just about as much no matter where you have it, as long as the venue is large enough and comfortable.

cheap is cheap gets. Why don't you have a pot luck supper? or a back yard BBQ. or a beach BBQ. If money is a factor admit it up front. I understand limited funds and would be happy to contribute to a wedding lunch or supper. Remember the thought is what counts not the gift or the meal, or where its held.Go for the free. a park, a public garden. Use your imagination, not money

I would say check out your local VFW or American Legion- they usually have very nice reception rooms at reasonable prices.

Check with all of your local organizations, i.e. American Legion, Lion Club, Elks Lodge, etc.. That is what we did and saved a ton.

Do you have any VFW halls or Lodges ........they are usually cheaper.........or a restaurant with banquet halls........Congrats! If all else fails try your park district and consider a picnic area and a nice day for your wedding date........caterers will come anywhere.........
