Well, it kind of goes together though it's a time-release answer. For Thanksgiving, I like the usual as you've mentioned. It's leaves us great left-overs for the guys (& some gals) to make sandwiches & plates when they watch football.
By Christmas, we're none of us ready for another turkey. So, we've started a new feast that has about become a family tradition. On that holiday, we usually have a seafood feast. Shrimp, crab, & if there's enough financial capability, then lobsters too. We have dip and such for snacks, usually fruit trays, and often a meat & cheese platter, but we go for something a little different than turkey & trimmings then.

Green bean casserole; candied sweet potatoes with marshmellow topping; mashed potatoes and gravy; a relish tray with stuffed celery, pickles, and olives; deviled eggs; and hot rolls. Also sometimes brocolli and rice with cheese casserole and sweet potato or pecan pie, if friends are coming to visit.
When I cook Thanksgiving dinner, I cook THANKSGIVING DINNER!

Sweet potato casserole. Recipes are fairly easy to come by but it's like mashed sweet potatoes with milk and sugar and topped with either a crunchy streusel like topping or mini marshmallows.
YUM!
