Once a cheater always a cheater? Or can it just be a one time mistake?

You only cheat on someone because you are willing to risk loosing them. When you find the perfect man/woman you are not willing to risk loosing them. Cheating is always a symptom of a bigger problem. Something must be missing in the relationship, and the cheater is looking to fill the missing space. I personally don't think anything can kill a relationship quicker than doubt, and we all know cheating creates doubt. Not many people can honestly live with the doubt after cheating occurs. Forgiving is much much easier to do than forgetting. Whether the person cheats again or not, it's usually the victim of the cheating that ends the relationship because they can't forget what their partner did to them. I'm afraid I would be one of those people, I'd have to move on and find someone who was not willing to risk loosing me. I take my commitments very seriously, and I would demand the same from my partner.

Coming from a cheater, it is definitely possible to change. Sometimes, temptation strikes, but if he/she chooses to hop in the sack with someone else, then obviously you have some problems with your relationship. However, the person may have cheated because they feel as though you aren't the one and they are too afraid to say it. I've been in this position before! You just need to sit down and talk with him/her and find out if they cheated because they haven't grown up yet or if they're cheating because they're truly unhappy with the relationship.

I believe that people can change and I don't think that a person should be labeled a cheater if, he or she just slipped up one time.

once a person cheats,,,,that primal fear of how you would feel afterwards and being caught is over, making it easier to cheat and not feel so horrible about it. that's why they say once a cheater always a cheater
