I have a Kodak brand 15in flat panel TV that's less than a year old, the other day the screen went blank, the sound is good but there is no picture, sometimes the screen will apear but will slowly change to a bunch of fuzzy vertical lines.

Unlikely the screen !! If its less than 12months old surely it is still under warranty , go to where you purchased it and they will direct you to a service centre that handles repairs for that make !
Thanks to Tally for his kind words of comfort !

Two possibilities...

1) Bad lcd driver board.
2) Bad ribbon cable

More bad news. Many times the manufacturer will only sell the lcd display assembly. You may have 1 year parts waranty, but only 90 days labor. Industry standard.

Did you buy a service contract? Sometimes it's added on if you didn't resist.

Yea I doubt it is the screen as new as it is. probably a circuit of some kind. If it is a flat CRT then it does have a picture tub so tally really doesn't know what he is talking about they still make plenty of CRT TVs and monitors but flat pannel really refers to a LCD or plasma.

no no, they havent used picture tubes in 20 yrs. Your flat screen sounds damaged, it sounds like internal severe damage, get it out of there; return it, and get a new one....!

you paid way too much for crap like that.
flat screne tv's work out of a curcitiry, like a small few chips in there, no tubes.
