Alcholol. Not too much. Also try leaving the radio on.

I asked a similar question and here was the answer I found most helpful. I give the credit to nightevisions. Hope it helps you too.
It helps to have a relaxing routine before bed. Do something calming. Whatever that might be for you... a warm bath, a hot cup of tea, reading a book...
If you lie there awake when you go to bed, occupy your mind in a non distressing way. Recite a childhood fairytale such as the 3 Bears... and when your mind starts to wander to everyday worries, pull it firmly back to the story... you'll fall asleep before you get past the porridge!

Lots of heavy carbs seem to do the trick for me... No protien (such as milk or meats which can stimulate the brain)
I don't recommend any sleeping pills...
If you HAVE a boyfriend but just don't wanna have sex for the eve, try massage or just warm cuddling...If he's persistent and uncaring of your condition, consider possibly he's the reason you're up and ask him to be more concerned about what you are dealing with and talk about it when your less bothered...
Best thing to do is relieve yourself of depressing thoughts and worries... Too much can keep your mind going long after you've hit the bed and drugs can only complicate these issues...

Take a HOT shower, and before you get back in the bed, make it. Put i new cool sheets and a fresh blanket and change the pillow case and fluff it up! THEN climb in! I used to have the same problem only I didn't want IT at all and anyway I go under my bed where it's peaceful. It's weird but I fall straight to sleep and a few minutes later I go back in the bed and I sleep like a hott log until morning.

Warm milk, milk contains calcium which calms nerves and when heated releases natural tryptophan: the same ingredient that makes everyone sleepy also the few degrees that this drink might raise your body temperature is often enough to trigger the slowdown response we have on warm days.

Drugs, drugs, drugs. Forget drugs. Grab some old Arthur Godfrey TV shows or read Silas Morner, along with a cup of some hot tea. Put on a sound track of water, waves and rain. If that doesn't do it for you, use a hammer.
Don't fault my spelling. Spell check didn't help either.

Go to the local drug store or pharmacy and get Melatonin, its the chemical in your brain that causes you to fall asleep. Take 1 3mg pills, if that doesnt work in 45minutes, take another. This will work, its brain chemistry and its better than any prescription sleep aids i have taken.

Since sex helped you get to sleep (or since its so funny!) use a vibrator at night. Feels good, no worry of getting pregnant or getting an STD, and its relaxing.
Other than sex, STAY AWAY from sleeping pills. RRRrr...can't believe people would say try pills. Take a warm bath and stay in for awhile. Use lavendar soap-the aroma sends sleepy vibes to your brain.

Give sleeping pills a chance. Also try foods that make you sleepy like turkey. There is some kind of chemical in it that makes you tired.
