I had some great answers on yesterdays questions(all but one)I respect everyones opinions good and bad.My question for the day is what is your favorite thing about hunting? Mine is taking my 9 year old daughter with me and having a good time no matter if it is sitting on a stand ,throwing rocks in a creek ,wandering around in a cemetary,or whatever she wants to do at the time.I used to be the kind that got in my stand an hour before daylight and worked hard to get a good buck every year, but that does not seem to be my main goal anymore.I still do like to kill a big one when I get the chance.

Creating memories with your kids is the best. It is part of the life cycle of being an outdoorsman.

I grew up hunting with my dad. Whether it was a quick evening cruise down a back road looking for grouse or a week long hike after mountain goat, dad taught me ethics and moral values from patience to hard work to treating other people with respect. Now that I primarily hunt alone (no wife or kids to share these experiences with), I find the time spent in the outdoors very relaxing and thought provoking. Sometimes we loose touch with what is or isn't important and hunting helps me bring life back into perspective. Plus I love the taste of elk steak ;)

i agree taking someone out in the woods for the first time and letting them experience it ALL> I took my g/f out last year , her firstime hunting, she practiced shooting her new PSE compound bow for many weeks prior to opening day. I bought a 2 person tree stand so i could be with her to help spot the deer and tell her when to shoot. She missed her 1st shot at a doe right off the bat, 2 days later she had a nice 4x4 come in but stood behind the trees offering no shot. you should have seen her shaking..lol..she would have lost the arrow if she had that shot she was shaking so bad. Her 3rd oppertunity resulted in a nice sized doe. to this day she still talks about the first few days of her hunting experience, seeing the world come to life at daybreak. it provided her a lifelong memory and we will see how she does this year

YAY! I'm glad you take your daughter hunting. We need more women hunters. My favourite thing is being out in the woods at first light, finding my "spot" and settling in. I'm so in tune with my surroundings and l love the smell and everything. If I get a deer, GREAT! If I don't, no biggy. As they say, a bad day hunting is better than a good day at work!

I agree with you. I love hunting deer, but when I take my 9 year old girl or my 5 year old boy it's all about teaching them about every thing in the woods (sounds and animals) , show them the outdoors, and enjoying them having a good time.

My fav part is right before the shot when your heart tries to beat out of your chest waiting for that one more step. Its torture sometimes (I waited the longest 5 minutes of my life yesterday) but it really improves your patience which inturn improves your hunting
