We don't know if we're having a boy or a girl yet, but we can't decide on names for either. Can anyone suggest a modern and not too popular name, but that's also not so weird the child will not thank us in a few years?

Names are so personal it's hard to say. However, check out these sites for inspiration:

My husband and I are not pregnant yet, but we've been trying for a couple of months and I can't stop thinking about babies! So I have already been looking at baby names! Here are my top names.

Girls: Heidi, Madeline, Makenna, Milla, Ruby, Violet
Boys: Jackson (my three-year-old's name), Wiley (what we will use if we have a boy)

For middle names I would suggest using the name of a family member. That is what we have done and plan to do again. Good luck and congrats!

Boys: Corbin, Grant, Clayton, Jamison

Girls: Brenna, Augusta, Greta

I like names that are a little different, especially older names that aren't *too* dated (Judy is a dated name, for example). The key is to pick a name that you feel has a certain flair, without being over the top.

Alexander, Quentin, Marcus, James, Jerome, Xavier or Aaron
Kyla, Aminah (pronounced ah-mee-nah), Chayla, Alyssa, Janessa.

I love stronger names for both boys and girls. THe ones that end sounding like "e" often have soft names..

Also for boys- even though it would be great for a dad to have a jr- it sometimes doesnt fit the child. What i did with my middle son was look at him and gave him a name that fit him, which wasnt the first name his dad came up with. his name is Isaih- and I love it!

With my youngest- if i was going to have a girl, i was going to give her the name of Jolyn. That is my sisters middle name and my mother's name (she passed away 4 years ago). i always thought it was nice to incorporate family into a childs name.

I heard a name last night, i think it's out of a book...Jonayla for a girl. Personally, if i have children, i like the name Kearan (possibly Matthew for a middle name) for a boy and Amy for a girl.

My cousin has called his son Jaden Thomas. I've never heard of it before but apparently it is an actual name

Dasan Omar is my son's name. It is pronounced like Jason. He loves it and has been complemented on it a lot. I have never heard it used before. It means Free Sprit in one dialect and The Chosen One in another. I also have a daughter named Echo Chanel KayLynn, and one named Alexis Bashia Ellavon. The Bashia is pretty rare meaning God's Daughter. I have tried very hard as you can tell to be original with them. If you use them I hope you let me know. Laters friend! I don't hear the name Paige too often anymore. I love the name Kennis for a girl but I got shot down ( it was a good reason) sigh.
What about Max, Alex or Andrew for a boy. The boy names are not so modern but you don't hear them often.

Congratulations!!
I would wait a while before deciding on a name - It is OK to wait until the baby is born until you decide.

We didn't decide on our second child's name until he was born (in a hurry, in the bath) but when we did it fitted him perfectly - And NO: it wasn't Flash (like so many of our friends suggested).

Short names are popular for boys:
Ben
Sam
Tom
Joe
Harry

Girls:
Sally
Molly
Gaby

Summer is a nice name that is modern. But sometimes it is better to stick to the classic names like Alice Rose Harry and the classic Mark or Adam for boys they dont date and you never tire of them believe me I know
