Worked as an EMT in Boston and had a partner who would get feint at the sight of his own blood but could handle the messiest traffic accidents. No, you're not a coward. Thanks for all you do.

Don't worry. I was a nursing assistant in a maternity ward for 2 years and saw so much blood and yuck, you wouldn't believe it. If I go for a blood test, I have to turn my head away as it makes me faint. I once stabbed my own hand accidently and ran screaming up the road because of the blood. We're just wimps when it comes to our own blood but just seem to be able to deal with everyone elses. You're normal.

I was a medic for 10 years. I never had a problem with blood, but I had a tough time resetting broken bones and some major dislocations.

I know a dentist with a phobia about seeing a dentist for himself. Maybe its cos you have to much inside info, like if I had a blood test i wouldn't really think were the needle was going, where as you would know exactly which vein artery etc. bound to knock you sick.

I trained as a nurse and I have a vomit phobia.
Its not just I don't like sick, I mean if I am sick I shake and sweat. If I feel sick I panic. If anyone is sick near me I panic. I don't know why, I just do!!!
The only way I could get around it is to leave the nursing profession!!!!!

I knew a nurse who hated the sight of blood, her own or her patients. She's an excellent nurse, by the way, but it is an occupational hazzard!
