Well, I did not know in what category the question belonged in, so I put it here. Anyway, the question is pretty self explanatory.

I have some ideas:
French movies, of course (which would you recommend).
Halloween or Christmas party with other school clubs
Fieldtrips (french restaurants, etc.)
Listen to popular french music
And perhaps even a game of "Petanque"

Any suggestions? I just want to be a good president for the club; I do not want to seem like I do not know what to do (I am supposed to suggest the activities the club will do).

here's some ideas that won't cost much money (unlike the other suggestions you've posted up) and all that's required really is a house to do them in:

-have a french cooking day at someone's house (look up some traditional recipes such as crèpe or croque-monsieur)
-have a presentation day, focusing on one topic and just bringing in a bunch of pictures on a display board to chat about (like parisian fashion, the most popular, historical monuments, how a european city works, etc.)
-play games in french (card games like go fish or poker, if you can handle it, bingo, jeopardy, trivial pursuit, etc.)

these are some of the things the club at our school did, including some that you've already included. around christmas time, we went caroling around neighborhoods in french, and we watched finding nemo and aladdin in french. there is a french café in our town, so we had a day of lattés and croissants there. but otherwise, you can be creative and take simple activities and just do them in french. twister in french is SOOO much fun!!! le main gauche à rouge!

The things that you mentioned are all good ideas. We do the same in our French club.

You can also:

Have a cheese tasting (with grape juice)
Have a crepe sale
Have a dictation contest
Do a scavenger hunt around the school
Play Mancala
Sell T-shirts to the members; choose a design together
Have a mini Tour de France on little kid's bikes
Have cream puffs or sorbet
Sing French songs. You could go to a nursing home and perform (community service)
Take a field trip to a museum and you can even do a scavenger there with the French works
Play word games using French (scattergories, scrabble)

Pick a different activity for each meeting. Assign and then discuss a French book, poem, movie or famous French person or artist. Invite guestspeakers who have a story to tell about life in France. Go to a museum to study a French artist. Amuse-toi bien. C'est bien que tu a un club.

Make crepes.

Are you in high school? (IE, is French wine out of the question?)
You could have a book-club meeting, read a famous or popular French book and discuss.
Play games, Pictionary, Taboo, Trivial Pursuit etc in French.

Wizzie was right: it's "Bienvenue dans ..." I just checked ! Actually, I think most people (including myself) make the mistake because we say "Bienvenue au club!" to someone when you want to tell him that it happened to you as well.

As for your French club, how about watching some French stand up comedians? You can find some of them on You Tube. problem is, they are not all funny (depends on your sense of humour) and some of them might speak a bit fast for you.

I was thinking of Gad Elmaleh (http://youtube.com/results?search_query=gad+elmaleh+by+evangeline&search=Search) whose last show has been posted (the 1st part is at the end). There's one part which i find hilarious, and which deals with skiing. He speaks quite fast, though, but he also makes a lot of "moves" which are funny. The "ski" part is in Part 2, at 50 sec.

If you like it, and think it could be interesting for the club, just add a comment with your email address and I'll translate it for you. But, as I said, he might be speaking too fast, and so it would "kill the humour" (no idea how to say that in English, and too lazy to check in the dictionnary)!

Another one I found rather funny was a guy who is a new comedian. There's a French stand up comedian (Jamel Debbouze, who is also an actor, now) who has decided to create a show to promote new comedians. My favourite was Dedo. http://youtube.com/watch?v=HqABANRxtMI . It starts at 1:10. I think he has some potential. And he doesn't speak too fast.

As for French films, I hope you'll be able to find some which are "popular" AND good.
anyway, good luck with your club.
