Jesus is love, and His love has been poured out into our hearts by the Holy Spirit (first epistle of John), so....that's the love described in I Corinthians 13 (read at wedding ceremony),selfishless love. all other sources of love are selfish, cos human nature is entirely self-centred.

Of course we cannot love as Jesus does, but we can try. That's all that is expected of us. We are to try to be as Christ-like as possible. Anyone who claims to be a Christian, and yet does not attempt to be Christ-like, has not truly been changed. Once you are truly committed to being a Christian, you want to please God, and that means loving your neighbor, obeying the commandments, ministering to those in need, faithfully attending a church which teaches the Bible honestly, having a real relationship with Him, etc.

Jesus is God, therefore perfect. God is love. Perfect, unconditional.
We are imperfect, and our love (Christian or not) is imperfect and conditional.
But Jesus said to "Walk in love"
We Christians do our best, and by the leading of the Holy Spirit, we have a good start. But, we are imperfect.
We don't claim to have perfect love, or be perfect.
We are just forgiven.

thats a good question...but nobody has the same understanding that Jesus had. We can try, and try, and try, but we will never ever get to His level. I'm going to try my hardest, and trust Him to help me. I guess its up to you to allow for some grace in dealing with your Christian friends who aren't as far along as you'd like them to be. We are all on a journey, and some are further along than others.

I try and hope I do a good job, but I am human. I have and will conitnue to sin because it's our nature. But I hope to be able to recognize that, repent and turn my life back to Christ. Loving my neighbor and my enemy is commanded in the bible. I have to!

Well, with the exception of Mother Teresa, I've never met a true Christian, so I guess, no, they can't.

No...Jesus loved us so much he littered the earth with 'teachings' that caused the slaughter of 12 million people in death camps in the 40's....how lovely.

I'm working on it but it seems every time I turn around I have fallen short of His example. Praise God for His Grace.
