I suspect it is the toasted barley...makes for a wonderful creamy head...and the flavorful hops are a plus.

Its defiantly the watter from the Liffy. Before it was imported from Dublin to the UK , I always thought it tasted very different , it still tastes better in Eire however it also depends on the bar person that looks after the beer.

As with any alcoholic beverage (especially beer) it is that you have acquired the taste for Guinness- some people, when first trying it, absolutely hate it. Then given time learn to enjoy the taste.

So many things go into making beer you cant say exactly what makes it taste good, its a culmination of the ingredients, the brewing method, how it is stored and eventually served. Warm Guiness does not taste great, likewise if it too cold.

It's a matter of preference, some love it, some hate it (personally I love it but it's soo fattening) Lager lovers think lager tastes great, as do wine lovers. I love them all but Guinness is a form of food as well so possibly that is why it is so satisfying

I like Guinness because it looks like a pint. Have you been to the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin?
