Beacuse god does not have a name. Why? because god does not exist. If "God" were to exist, he would have a name, like that religions have given to Jesus. This further shows religion is a sham.

Edit: FNFAST: call me what you want, but whatever dude, I know what I believe in and religion and "god" doesnt fall into this category. I have been educated on religion through my studies but do not believe as its a waste of my time and does not make sense. I believe in Scientific evidence, not fictional bollocks.

I believe the author of the bible is the first to abide by the laws of the land.
It is evident when multitudes have the bible that it is in the last days of the world since Eden.
So KJV Bible 1611 + 303 = 1914 after Christ and is an excepted translation for last days. 2Tim.3:1-7; Matt.10:34-38 and the behavior patterns of the majority fit 2Pet.3:3-9;
Rev.12:6-11,12,14,17; Michael [ Jude 9 ]; cast Satan down to earth, he has a short time by the time world has an excepted translation?
Rom16:20 Apostles Acts 2:31-35 [ foe is Satan], Heb.1:1-3 [ enemy is Satan ], cast out of heaven as Daniel said 2520 less it was 606 to christ = 1914 CE.

Gen.22:14; Exo.6:3; 17:15; Judges 6:24; Psm.68:4; 83:18; Isa.12:2; 26:4; John 17:1-26; Rev,14:1-6,7; These redeemed from earth firstfruits know his name. John 6:39,40,44;
1Thes.4:15-17 [ the voice of the archangel is in the last days Dan,12:1-13 ]; Jehovah is supposed to be known after the world gets the bible his name is forever in what ever language and Rev.3:12; Jesus has a new name 1Cor.22-28,51-58; Jesus makes all perfect and bring it into the kingdom of his God and Father and ours John 20:17;

You are right he does have a name. You can find it at Psalms 83:18 if the translation you are reading did not omit it. It is important to know him by his name and even call on that name. We all desire a close relationship with him, if you were really close friends with someone would you simply call them "friend" every time you talked to the? No that is just a title and we feel closer to them by using there name.
Jehovah wants use to use his name.
Look at Exodus 6:3 and Proverbs 18:10.
You actually noticed something that it takes many people a lifetime to recognize if then.
Keep searching the scriptures for the truth you are headed in the right direction.

It's because we don't know for sure what his name is. Contrary to many of the people who post on this forum, the Jews held God in such reverence and awe that they would not even speak His name. So after thousands of years the Jews forgot exactly what His name was and how to pronounce it. The Hebrew language depends upon consonants. Therefore what we know of His name is YHWH. If we fill in some consonants it is possible that His name was YAHWEH.

Because God's name is sacred. There is power by just speaking his name. That is why you hear the phrase "Taking the Lord's name in vain" Since God's name is so powerful saying it lightly in everyday convestation is waisting the power. It is just bouncing around in space somewhere.

The Hebrew nation took God's name so seriously they were not allowed to speak it or write it. However since he is the Only God.... He knows you are talking to him when you call out to God.

Actually this answer is failry easy. We don't call god by his "real name" simply because he is known by many names. God answers moses question of "who should I say sent me?" by answering" I am that I am." Meaning you can't really call god by a single name..he is Christ...Budda...Jehovah...it depends on how you translate his word that determines your religion and his name.

Oh and for the so called "athiest" above...just so you know...In order to be a true athiest, you would have to "know" there is no god which would mean you are omnipotent...which in fact would make you god defeating your whole statement. So you are agnostic, which means you are unsure of what to believe.

Who said we are on a first name basis? Names are for people and gods are.... supernatural. Things would be different if we went around calling supernatural things by first names wouldn't it?.

eg., .. Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No! It's ......... Clark Kent!
Just doesn't have that punch.

The Hebrews originally referred to Him by name but it seemed disrespectful for them so they started saying 'the Lord' or something similar to that. Eventually it became "God" for us english speaking Christians i guess for simplicity-so as not to complicate things...
