I am in Michigan and steel shot is required,or a non-tox alternative. I am looking for shot size, cartridge length, magnum or non-magnum. I am looking for some experts on shotgun ballistics. I shoot a Benelli Super Black Eagle II with a 28" barrel.

depending on your budget, the non-toxic tungsten and heavy shot loads perform similar to lead. you can use smaller shot size and get more energy. if you shoot steel, are you shooting in woods or in a field? in a field get some larger shot for longer shots. i hunt in arkansas in fields are #2 is fine for duck, #4 for woods and creeks.

good luck. great shotgun.

If you're calling them in close I wouldn't go with a magnum. I always use #6 for ducks.
