I'm sorry, but this is why I am HELL GLAD I no longer live in Australia. But even I AM amazed that the level of intolerance in Australia has reached this point, that even wild animals that were defending their own territories are the brunt of "revenge attacks" for a person who really should have been more careful around wild animals. Steve Irwin had said in the past that being in the water was not his strong point - so maybe HE should have thought twice about doing what he was doing.
Man - Australia has gone to the dogs!!!

Definitely not rational. Same type of stupid reaction happened when "Jaws" came out. People started killing sharks. What is really irksome In the Irwin case is that - one would assume that whoever is killing stingrays to avenge? his death also liked what Irwin did for a living. Irwin's work was to educate others about the the animal kingdom, to develop greater appreciation, respect and awe for animals. So why are people killing sting rays to avenge the death of Irwin? It is completely senseless.

Aw c'mon! It's ridiculous! Not like the stingray summoned the Stingray Commitee and decided to kill Steve Irwin! Plus, he had it coming! He didn't respect the safety guidelines while dealing with the stingrays! It was HIS fault! Not the stingray's...

Only about a dozen people have been killed by stingrays since the entire written history of mankind. They are usually docile, and their barbs only slightly irritating. It would be completely retarded and barbaric to go after stingrays for one man's freak accident.

No of course it isn't. It was an animal in it's own habitat. As much as I admired Steve Irwin he was not a natural part of that habitat. Taking revenge for his death on animals doing nothing more than living is senseless and cruel.

No the stingray simply reacted to fear. Steve was in it's territory and had to have konwn the risks. The animal is not responsible!

Rational? Not really. Someone thinks it is revenge, but it is actually dishonoring Steve Irwin's name.

Oh, for Pete's sake.
This is the biggest case of missing the point re: animals since Finding Nemo made clowfish popular pets.
So, no, it isn't rational. It's human stupidity at its finest.
