Inspired by Monty Python's Quest for the Holy Grail I am trying to find a real answer to this. I was thinking of doing it kind of as a a science fair project but I do not have the proper connections.

A five ounce bird cannot carry a one pound coconut. It's a simple weight ratio. I'm guessing you mean common European Swallows. I'm guessing six or seven, because one swallow can carry 3 ounces of weight. A pound is 16 ounces.three times six is eighteen. When you consider the size of a swallow, it would be six. Unless it is breeding season, spring. Then you would require an extra swallow, maiking it seven.
