The Chicago Chop House is great. When you walk in you'll feel like you're in a gangster movie. The food is great and the prices are pretty reasonable- try the pot roast.
It's on Ontario just a couple of blocks from Michigan Ave. From the Hancock Building walk south on Michigan and take a right on Ontario- the restaurant is a couple of blocks down on your right. I'm sure they have a website you can check.
The Signature Room at the top of the Hancock is good, too, but you're going to spend a lot more and will have to "dress up" more. I think the Chop House has better food but the views from the Hancock are pretty great.
Have fun-

I like to eat at the Rose Bud restaurants they serve great Italian food. http://www.rosebudrestaurants.com/index.html There are a few of them around the down town area. I have to be honest and say that it is very difficult to choose where to eat in downtown Chicago because there are sooo many good places. Just pick one and most likely you will not go wrong. Places that have bad food in Chicago do not last.

Try ethnic and neighborhood restaurants. They're usually very affordable, and sometimes way better tasting than your usual chain restaurants. Oh yeah, you'll probably get a more involved service because they're not trying to get you out so quick. It also gives you a chance to be adventurous and enliven your usual dinner date.
Check out this site http://www.eatchicago.net/ . This guy maintains a blog about restaurants in Chicago, and he usually favors affordable, out-of-the beaten path restaurants that serve phenomenal food.

The Cheesecake production unit on the backside of the Hancock Tower could be stable on your occasion. they have an in depth menu, no longer too high priced, great place, great layout and it rather is appropriate around the line from Water Tower place
